Dr Aljishi is a very caring doctor, I was to have a follow up with him last November. I was very upset when I called the hospital to find out he was no longer there.
Has anyone located Dr Aljishi?

Dr. Aljishi is a very competent and caring patient. I came to see him for a short visit in clinic and I was amzed with his bedside manners. He really took the time to listen to my story and correlate my condition with my symptoms. With no doubt I trust him and he had done my surgery. I had a good recovery. In fact, he came to assess my condition daily and he seem very careful and does not depends totally on his assistanst. I was so unhappy to hear that Hamilton General would let such a great surgeon. We are in need of such doctors who treat you with respect and make you feel comfortable during your treatment. Thanks Dr. Aljishi for all what you did for me.

Great Dr. I think he is at McMaster now. His LinkedIn profile says hes at Mac. He is involved in the Pain Clinic there while he was still at the General. I am calling the pain clinic on Monday to confirm as he is my daughter's neurosurgeon and I really don't want another doctor. If I find out anything I will post update.

Dr al Jishi performed my fifth spinal fusion in October and I had a post-surgery consult with him at the end of November. I only found out he had left the hospital by accident during my rehab check-up. This is preposterous! He is an excellent surgeon with a fabulous bedside manner. Sure hope I can find him for follow-up, because believe me I will try.

My son has had the best care I have ever seen by Dr. Al-Jishi and his team. He responded to his staff's emails about my son and his concerns almost immediately unless he was in surgery, and then he would call me, or MaryAnne would call me, with his response. My son is not the easiest person to work with, and he was also very complicated in terms of his surgery and recovery over the past 2 years. Imagine my surprise when the access to care was reduced to " if you have concerns take him to ER" as there is no-one available for answers(doctor). The staff must be very frustrated as well since they can no longer get the answers they need to continue being the most amazing team I have ever dealt with. You could always depend on them to have the answers or to get them and get back to you. They still get back to you but they cannot really give answers to most questions without a doctor's approval. I still cannot believe that the hospital let go one of the best and most caring neurosurgeons they had. Even the staff talked about him being accessible and knowledgeable. No stars for the hospital admin dept and human resources. What were you thinking????

My son has been a patient of Dr. Aljishi since May 2016 as he had a tumor removed from his C-4, C-5 area and had his neck fused in November of 2016. Dr Aljishi successfully removed the mass after the second time, as there were complications during the first attempt. This surgery was a seven hour long surgery, and my son being at a young age was a mess mentally and emotionally with mixed emotions and stressed about the entire procedure and outcome. Dr Aljishi was able to support my son and family and explain the procedure along with possible outcomes. We have been seeing Dr Aljishi for all follow-ups and had a great physician-patient relationship. We were very disturbed to learn Dr Aljishi is no longer at Hamilton General Hospital practicing. The Hamilton General Hospital has not sent out any type of communication to Dr Aljishi’s patients to inform of discontinuing of his practice, as this was a decision made by the hospital. We are very disappointed with the hospitals actions and lack of communication to existing patients. My son feels this is patient abandonment as he’s been left in the dark with no answers. This was not a last minute decision made by the hospital as Dr Aljishi continued to work after he was informed of his termination.
One would think the hospital would want to have their patients taken care of by experience doctors that are able to have an excellent physician-patient relationship and have their patient’s best interest. We are lacking neurosurgeons as there are long waitlist, but yet you have decided to remove another one and have larger waitlists while people are struggling with their health while waiting to be seen. We have not received any information regarding transfer of care along with medical records, being that he just had an MRI completed this month at Hamilton General requested by Dr Aljishi.

Dr. Aljishi has been my neurosurgeon for over 2 yrs. I have a benign brain tumor. I was shocked to read on here that he had left Hamilton General as he had ordered my last MRI for December 15 2017. Its pretty negligent of Hamilton General to not even inform his patients that he has left. Does anyone know where he went? I would like to continue to see him if possible.

Dr. Aljishi was there when my fiancee broke his back at work.....he had heard of but never worked on a break like this. He was helpful, kind, and patient with my fiancee who was terrified to be operated on.
He repaired his back, we almost cannot see a scar at all.
We were to have a follow up appointment when we were told at the end of December that the Hamilton Hospital was no longer renewing his contract. There was no notice, we are still waiting to hear what to do. We had to wait in the St.Catharines hospital over 8 hours just to have him look at our xrays because they only have 2 neurosurgeons.......so how the hospital could tell us that they had enough neurosurgeons on staff and that was the reason they were not renewing his contract is ludicrous! We want to find out where he went so we can continue our follow up appointments with him, but of course they cannot give us any information. Now we have no idea what to do.
We will continue our search to find out where he has moved to.......
The Hamilton Hospital should have given ALL of his patients more warning (or any warning at all because if I had not called yet again......I would not have even known he was leaving the hospital!).
The hospital needs to put a better plan in place when this occurs.
I am certain that this type of issue does not conform with the hospital's quality program.
Very disappointed in the hospital.......not with Dr. Aljishi....he is absolutely wonderful.

Dr. Al Jishi came into my life after almost all of the neurosurgeons in Hamilton washed their hands of me, telling me I was “too complicated”.
Dr. Al Jishi was the only neurosurgeon that I’ve met that actually was transparent in his plan of care. I’ve literally seen seven neurosurgeons and he was the only one that was willing and able to research my disease and offer realistic options on what my next move should be. The only one!!!
Whenever I saw him we had a ‘plan’. He wasn’t afraid to say “We should try this” or “You have choices”. I always knew what our next steps would be. I always knew I had a neurosurgeon that cared.
Letting Dr. Al Jishi go not only hurts the hospital but now his current patients have to go back to square one, with a referral from their family doctor and a wait to see the next neurosurgeon, sometimes up to six more months... in pain, stressed and with no assurance that the next doctor will actually care enough to help.
If I can, I will follow Dr. Al Jishi. He’s worth it.

I am so upset that Dr. al Jishiis no longer at the Hamilton General, he is an amazing doctor with such great knowledge and surgical skills. everyone on staff agreed that he is the best neurosurgeon that you could have.. Dr. Al Jishi performed alaminectomy and fusion on my back on October 19th, I woke up from a long complicated surgery with absolutely no pain, that’s the first time in almost 10 years that I was pain free! Dr. Al Jishi I will sure miss you , you are the absolute best neurosurgeon, I do not understand why they did not renew your contract , I wish you the best and hopefully one day you will be back. Thank you so much for your help , I will miss you!
