The standards of care at this hospital are inconsistent. It is not entirely the staff's fault. The government needs to step up and ensure hospitals are not understaffed as an obligation to its citizens. Communication is lacking among physicians, nurses, residents and especially with patients and skills in communicating with patients is poor and most often vague. When you check in with a patient and his family, provide your name and role. Be considerate of a patient's age and how they may be feeling. Remember they are ill. Give of your time sufficiently to answer questions instead of looking annoyed at families because you want to get to your next patient. It is about life and death. It is about quality of life. It is about care. The patient means something to someone: he or she is a mother, father, grandparent, spouse, partner, child . The patient is more than a body. Stop looking at them with a clinical eye and begin to see you are treating human beings. Seniors are treated horribly from being told they will be going home, or have no reason to be in hospital and then all of a sudden end up staying. This place is disorganized. Modeling to residents is poor. Some nurses and doctors are outstanding while others lack empathy and complain of having to deal with the worst patients .... in front of patients and family. Staff is in need of professional development. Having stated all this, there are some gems among those that bring the place down. Those gems should be given the role to coach and model to others. This is not just a 9 to 5 job to punch in and out at, but a responsibility to life.
Not impressed with this hospital. They gave my father false hope and told him an outcome that was very unlikely. They talked him into a treatment plan that should not have been given to him. Their exactly words “your cancer is not only treatable but curable” he passed away 3 months later. After a follow up appointment with his doctor in windsor she admitted she did not agree with this hospitals advice and did not know why they told him what they had.
I have attended Juravinski for 4 years. Despite having a malignant rare sarcoma I was never worried about this despite a chance my leg might have to be amputated. The care was amazing . After studying my condition I was given the information about this sarcoma and all the steps I would go through for treatment. After radiation finished, right away, they would call me with the next step. Dr. Deheshi rebuilt my interior leg to give me limb sparing surgery and Dr. Avram closed with a skin flap. I am forever thankful for the kindest of care from doctors, interns, medical technicians, nurses and staff in the doctor's offices. When I look at this leg I am filled with thankfulness and gratitude for the experience I will never forget.
I was diagnosed with non Hodgkin's lymphoma in feb 2017 I met with my hemotologist Dr Lepic and the game plan was put in place immediately. We started my treatment and I felt I was treated very well by many staff! Her team of nurses are great! I also had a fever experience in the middle of the night and the on call oncologist called us back immediately and handle my situation very well and had me treated immediately ! Follows up ontime and a schedule was always in place so there was no wondering if I heard things right! Dr Lepic is an amazing Doctor. Super happy she is looking after my life! Grateful for this hospital!
