I went to emergency to find out I had kidney cancer ( which I knew from ultrasound) but it had also spread to spine.. Dr. Kachur did my surgery and did an amazing job. I am very very happy with the amazing job he did with the sutures and how well it looks now just 2&1/2 months later. He was very friendly and explained everything well to me. I would highly recommend him.

Two years ago today Dr. Kachur did spinal surgery on me. Nothing but pure professionalism and 100 % success. I am able to walk again with minimal pain. He and his staff I will be forever grateful. I did a three kilometre walk in the hills of Nfld today and felt so at peace. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Kellie JOYce

I don't understand all of these negative comments regarding Dr. Kachur. After going to chiropractors ...laser treatment...osteopath...the sciatic nerve pain became worse and worse until 3 months laterl I ended up in our local hospital where I was admitted . My hospital contacted Dr. Kachur to get me on list to see him. They set me up with their pain clinic in the interim to control the pain while I waited for appt with Dr. Kachur. With the relief from pain meds I was ordered to join therapeutic water exercises and they were very helpful. I saw Dr. Kachur in May. He had an assistant who answered most of my questions and was very pleasant. Dr. Kachur looked at the MRI done at the hospital and explained the situation. Since I had tried every available solution and had a couple months of back and core strengthening exercise at the pool he suggested surgery....which a cancellation came up and I had surgery june 27...I have yet to go for follow up appt. I have no pain at all....im still careful bc its only been 5 weeks. Dr. Kachur was professional and straight to the matter at hand. What I appreciate about specialists and in my case neurosurgeon...they are extremely busy....they pop in for our appts in between surgery's. Theres little time for small talk. Have your questions ready...do what you can for yourself beforehand...most of your questions will be answered by his assistant. He saw me before and after surgery. I found him to be kind and compassionate . His colleagues hold him in high regard and so do i.

Was sent to see this guy due to terrible neck issues. MRI from Mac showed bulging disk @ C5 - C7 deteriorating disks same spots. Took 9 months to get an appointment and only because Pain Doctor upgraded my status to "Urgent" Got into see him, terrible attitude, when he looked at MRI results he said "well these are 9 months old" I told him that's because it took that long to see you, he ordered another MRI at "HIS" facility @ the General and when I finally got back into see him 3 months later he said "There's nothing I can do" I'm suffering with terrible neuropathy on my left side in my arm and leg I have pain every day and he wasted my time for nothing!!!

Dr. Kachur operated on my neck, and did a fusion of 3 discs. I want to be bluntly honest in my review because his personality is a bit hard to deal with when you are so tired of pain. . Trying to get in touch with his office, not always easy or succesful. The lady was always nice, but I never felt confident that I would hear back. Dr. Kachur himself, well, he doesn't instill confidence either. After a run around from another surgeon for 8 months, I was hoping for more straightforward talk. Given that the other surgeon told me my neck situation was bad and need surgery, having this doctor say.......have you tried physiotherapy......well, that didn't sit well with me. Such extreme differences in opinions freaked me out. I know he didn't always like my attitude, but I was so over being jerked around. He definitely wasn't reassuring in the morning of my surgery either. 25 minutes before I am to be on the table and he asks if I am ready for this and do I understand what is being done.........I was stunned. I wasn't asking for a guarantee or promises, but I thought he might be a bit more encouraging. So, after all that, what I can say is this, that man has given me my life back. It is remarkable. I understand his need to be pragmatic, after all, there are no guarantees. Regardless of any personality differences we had, his work was superb. Within days, I couldn't believe how little pain I had. I truly am living a whole life now. I still have the odd bad day, but it is nothing compared to what it was before. I would absolutely trust him if more surgery was needed.
