I am a dentist and have been suffering from chronic pain for more than two years in the lower back and feet. I visited many doctors and did not find any solution or result other than medicines, which unfortunately did not give me any result except for an increase in pain and none of the doctors found a solution to my problem.
When i visited Dr. Ahmed Al-Jishi, the problem was immediately aged, as he clarified all the details and explained to me the necessary treatment plan from surgery and beyond. He also gave me a lot of his time without grumbling or boredom, and he was above description in dealing and welcoming.
Honestly, I have never met anyone like you Dr. Ahmed and pray to God to illuminate your path and fulfill your wishes and you are the pride of the Arabs and everyone who met you...

I have to contradict the last rating of Dr. Al Jishi. I was admitted to the General a little while ago and was told by Dr. Tatarian that he has moved back home to Saudi Arabia.
I’ve spent many many months crying over loosing this doctor and wish there were more like him. Compassion is not a learned trait.

I’m a former patient that is still looking for him.
I’m stuck with another Neurosurgeon at the General and every single time I’m there I ask where Dr. Al Jishi has gone. I ask every time. No one knows, or is telling.
I’ve also had my GP try to find him in New Market with no luck.
If anyone knows where he is please, PLEASE rate him.
He is an amazing Doctor, and person who is needed by people who are NOT being treated by the doctors a the General.

I am trying to locate Dr. Al Jishi. It's clear from the comments posted that he is an exceptional neurosurgeon. The more recent comments say that he is in Newmarket. Does anyone know where or can provide an address?

In my opinion, Dr. Al Jishi is the best neurosurgeon! I am so relieved to hear that he is once again practicing neurosurgery in New Market, based on the comments in the last post. I am sure many of his former patients will be seeking referrals to New Market. I know I will be!!!

My background – Before I talk about Dr. Al Jishi, I want to provide the background of my illness. I started having problems in my back on November 2017. The problem affected my right leg with pain and numbness. At the end of February 2018, while descending three steps on a beach resort, my leg simply gave in and I fell and broke my right arm. The problem continued to aggravate. I used extensively the services of chiropractors, physiotherapists, acupuncturists, decompression machines, etc. Nothing gave me any relief. Operation seemed to be the only solution.
Finding a Doctor – I live in Oshawa and my family doctor contacted a local neurologist to examine me and see if I could have an operation. The answer was that the waiting list to have a consultation was two years. My family doctor made other contacts without success, it seems that no surgeons don’t take old new patients. Desperate, I started contemplating going overseas and having the operation discdisectomy performed in another country. I got in touch with Mexico (too expensive), Brazil and India. India offered the best solution. Very qualified doctors and a more competitive price. Then we were informed of a private clinic in BC. They accepted to do the operation. The price was higher than the one from India, but it would be in Canada. My family doctor, who happens to be from India, was totally against going to another country. He stated that if I were to get an operation in another country and later had any complication, no Canadian doctors would be e willing to touch me.
Finding and Meeting Dr. Al Jishi – Finally, my family doctor (bless his heart) got in touch with Dr. Ahmed Al Jishi, who was then operating in New Market. He obtained an appointment for me within two weeks (something short of a miracle). I went to see Dr. Al Jishi. He saw the MRI that I had recently obtained and stated clearly that I needed an operation. He explained how the operation would be performed, the possible dangers (the things that could go wrong). After explaining every potential danger he would add: ”It never happened to me”. Yes, this has happened with other doctors when performing this kind of surgery, but it never happened to him. At the end, he asked if I accepted to be operated. My response was a resounding “yes”.
Three weeks later I was operated on my back. All went well, and I was discharged the same day and came home. Today 19 days later, I am walking without pain, and doing many things I was incapable of doing.
The Doctor – Very often we value a doctor for his competence, which without doubt is a fundamental point. Before seeing Dr. Al Jishi, I consulted the web to find out where he had done his studies, the reviews others had written, etc. That gave me confidence on his competence. However, a doctor is much more than his competence. His ability to listen, to empathize, to explain, to provide options, etc. can be as valuable as his competence. Dr. Al Jishi competence is beyond reproach (McGill, McMaster universities, etc.) However, what makes him an exceptional doctor is his approachability, his willingness to listen, to explain. The fact that he takes the time to cover all important areas of the process. We felt confident in his presence. Above all, he is a down-to-earth person. No arrogance, no “I-know-better-than-you” syndrome. For me this counted even more than his competence.
Recommendation – I recommend Dr. Al Jishi without any reservation. I you are lucky enough (as I was) to have him as your surgeon, you are in very good hands.

I had to see a different neurosurgeon today. I had to wait over a year to get this appointment.
Just walking in made me cry because I wasn’t coming to see you. It honestly feels like I’ve lost a family member. You cared and wanted to help.
My appointment was 10 minutes long. I left feeling like I wasn’t heard let alone treated for my brain disease.
I still cannot believe Hamilton General let this happen. I waited over a year for 10 minutes.
That’s not care.
Dr. Al Jishi you are still so missed.

It’s truly a blessing to have worked with such a phenomenal Neurosuregon. Dr. Ahmed Aljishi sucesfully preformed a very complicated surgery on myself during the second attempt on November 2016. The first attempt at surgery didn’t go as planned. My body had reacted to certain anaesthetics and I was never known to have allergies prior to surgery. Agreeing to go in for the second attempt months later everything went extremely smooth. From start to finish, I’m beyond greatful that Aljishi made the best decisions for my health and for my future. He was always supportive and caring each and every visit towards myself and loved ones. I’m in hopes to find out where he’s now at as I refuse to have my follow up with anyone else. I’m in disbelief with Hamilton General Hopitals actions on not keeping Aljishi around and the hospital for not notifying patients about this. God bless this man.
