Not all hero's wear capes, some wear cowboy boots. Dr. Yaraskavitch saved my son's life. He is not only friendly and kind, but also an amazing surgeon. He is truly phenomenal with kids. We were so very lucky to have him and his team.

Dr.Blake Yarascavitch is an amazing neurosurgeon. Our daughter has had two surgeries with him and he is phenomenal in every way shape and form. Thank you so much for getting our daughter on the right track . I've never met a doctor let alone a surgeon that is so kind, caring and compassionate. I mean genuinely thank you so very much.

I found this doctor rude and arrogant. He was frustrated answering my questions about my daughter. I had to see him twice and both times I had a hard time dealing with him. I had gone to emerge with my daughter because I thought her shunt was failing., he was the doctor on call and said it’s fine she can go home and we will see her at her scheduled appt, then at the appt he said it wasn’t looking good and that she would probably need a shunt revision. I really do not like him or his stupid cow boy boots.

Even when the obvious signs of my son's shunt malfunctioning were pointed out to him by myself and his nurse practitioner as well as the ID doctor, he continued to say he could see no reason for an appointment or inter e tion. Told mom (me) to relax, there is no problem with his shunt and/or the baclofen. My so had gotten worse, vomiting, headaches, unsteady when walking, lost about 30 lbs (he was thin to begin with) and yet he continued to say there was no problem. I finally called patient experience who got me an appointment with him. He looked at Jay and said that there was nothing wrong but if I wanted him to he would order a T scan. He said they would call with a appointment. After 5 days and no call, I felt that my so was so ill I had to go in. I took him to the neuro mod clinic where he was well known and the nurse practitioner checked on the CT list and Jay was not even on it! She had no doctor there to admit him so said to take him to EMERGENCY and refuse to take him home. One of the students ts who had known Jay was shocked to see him and immediately got an MRI or CT and then he went for surgery. This was just the beginning of the nightmare. Needless to say, after brain infection, multiple surgeries, couple of years in and out of hospitals he can no longer walk, is incontinent and totally dependent. He has developed scoliosis due to the increased tone and no long has a normal right hand and arm which previously he would use for pretty much everything he did . He can no longer go to camp or get on to a roller-coaster and travel is nearly impossible as even with a special seat we bought we cannot get him into our van. A van conversion is beyond our means. He used to love to help his sister who also has a disability.

Dr. Yarascavitch was absolutely wonderful with my 8 month old son's metopic craniosynostosis surgery. In these interesting times, only one parent was allowed to go see him in person (with baby in tow of course) to the consults, but he made time to do a video call after the fact to go over the procedure with myself and my husband after the consult. He is super calm, makes jokes to break the tension, super personable and is very reassuring. His team is also amazing - when my son was prepped for surgery, he felt comfortable enough to reach out to the nurse to pick him up and take him into surgery. Today, my son is 15 months old, and you can barely tell the scar, but he looks completely different - like the way he was meant to look! Thank you so much Dr. Yarascavitch. We are so lucky to have had you take care of our son!

My son was 13 and had an arachnid cyst in the membrane of the skull. He explained the procedure and follow up to the surgery. He made a post surgery visit for reassurance for us. Having your child's health is priceless and Doctor Blake is also priceless! We will always be in debt to his care and expertise for our son.

A doctor not only highly skilled but also has a wonderful calming bedside manner. Although he is very busy he always takes the time to answer all of your questions in an unhurried way. He is an amazing doctor!

Dr. Yarascavitch performed CVR surgery for sagittal synostosis on our 3-month-old son and we couldn't be happier about our experience with him. At a time that was extremely stressful and scary, his bedside manner (with us as well as our son) was caring and patient, and he took time with us to answer our questions and never talked down to us, nor did he pressure us to go in any one direction, as we had a choice between a few different treatment options. The surgery was a success, and the incision looked great and was stitched very neatly and has healed well. The staff and nurses at McMaster were also wonderful during our stay.
