I have seen a urologist there for a year now in May she told me my surgery would be in December..so I go for what I think is talking about my pre op an when they are booking it but no she tells me six to ten months again from now..this is terrible..I'm not coming to see her again!!
I recently went to hamilton general hospital emergency, and within 2hours of arrival I recieved more info on my condition than the previous hospital I had went to a week earlier, and that hospital took 3 days. The doctors and nurses at hamilton general are in my experience amazing.
A lot of overcrowding and the doctors are spread extremely thin. They were constantly having people brought in from all over on the edge of death so a few people stuck with long wait times for minor things got agitated and were super rude to the staff about it. Sorry but not feeling good or having a broken bone (or screaming as loud and long as possible hoping they'll give you unneeded pain meds so you'll shut up, you know who you are) can't take priority over the guy who just had to be revived with cpr on the way there, ya it sucks but it's not going to kill you in the next 10 minutes, bring a book next time. Even I was getting annoyed with people's entitlement, no wonder the staff gets snippy listening to that all the time. That said I can't say enough nice things about the nurses in the CCU, they were top notch. I never actually saw a doctor my entire time there but my mom fully recovered when she only had a 5-10% chance of survival so they must have known their stuff. Minus one star because there was an aggressive bum in the lobby harassing everyone for money and security took all day to throw him out. It's a shame this place is way underfunded but I can't complain about my experience at all.
I had a head injury and rather than make an appointment to see my family doctor, I thought I was doing the right thing by getting seen in ER of the General because I am an employee and this would help in taking time from work . I went to the ER and explained I am here during work hours and asked if they could call me when closer to being seen. This could not be done. I waited for 2 hours and still my name was not called. I asked them again if I could go back to work until I could be seen. The receptionist asked me to go through the green doors to be seen. Once inside the doors there was going to be another 3 to 4 hour wait. I ended up leaving and going back to work. I should have taken the time off work and went to the family doctor. The reason I give this comment is not because I feel entitled but because I felt that I made the right decision not to take time off work to see the family doctor. I went back later on after work and asked if they still had my chart and I would wait. I was told I had to go through the whole process again. Very sad.
