Just had meniscous tear done last week, swelling lasted 5 days and knee is very shaky and painfull to put my body weight on, had to get crutches for first time, getting my post op apoint with him this week, so will not rate him for another two months. I had this same surgery, other knee, with Dr. Desjardins, (retired now) with hardly any swelling, no crutches, and no pain, in the fitness center after 3 weeks. Stay tuned, to my final analysis.

I had extreme pain and swelling in my knee, due to a meniscus tear, which was confirmed by an MRI. Dr Wilkinson refused to do a repair which i can only assume was due to my age and the practice of rationed surgery in Ontario. I am 63, and extremely active. Unsatisfied, i saw another surgeon, who did the arthroscopic repair, with great results. Recovery time was short, due to my fitness level, and i am back to full activity, including running. Dr. Wilkinson's lack of action cost kme at least an extra year of pain, swelling, and reduced activity.

Saw Dr Wilkinson for a torn meniscus. He was professional, clear with my options and did a fantastic job. No pain, crutches for 2 days only. If you are looking for touchy feely, he is not your guy, but if you want the best surgeon in town then he’s your guy. Dry wit.

I had a surgery on my knee (meniscus) 3 months ago with Dr. R. Wlikinson.. I am extremely satisfied with the results following this surgery. Dr. Wilkinson is very professional; before and after surgery he took the time necessary to explain different aspects for this surgery. I am very thankful for his expertise .He is compassionate and inspire confidence. Without hesitation I highly recommend Dr. Wilkenson.I

I had my ACL reconstruction surgery done with Dr. Wilkinson. He was amazing. He took the time to explain to me exactly what was going to happen, and all the implications involved. He did my surgery without any complications and I was able to walk without crutches after 1 week. He sometimes mumbles, but if you ask him to clarify he does it willingly.

Just had a knee scope completed for a torn meniscus and some MCL damage. He was great- might lack the outgoing voice most of you are looking for, but I found him to be hilarious. Didn't give away much info besides telling me what was wrong with my knee. Bit of a wait to see him, but it's like that with all doctors. Barely any pain after surgery and knee feels amazing. Great job.

This doctor is seriously/severely challenged when it comes to communication. He debrided my ankle bones in several places. Attempted to reattach ligaments that were badly torn and frayed.
I also came out of surgery with a severe infection. This was introduced during the surgery by either him or his assistants. This was verified by the Hospital's Infectious disease response team.
My ankle has never been the same and I can barely walk on it. It is 100 times worse than before. I had to have antibiotics delivered into my heart by a pic line and was on Morphine for 6 weeks.
All the while he wanted nothing more to do with me and offered no solutions or help with the problems he caused afterward.
He can barely put two words together. You can also barely hear the man speak.
No one in Ottawa will consider operating to fix the problems he caused as it is a very small fraternity here.
I would love him to explain to my two children why I cannot play with them the way a father in 30's should have been able to.

He may know what he is doing and others may have a good experience with him but I would NEVER recommend him to anyone-ever..

All this has severely impacted my life financially and otherwise. My advice is to go with another doctor.

He did my elbow in 1999, ACL in my knee in 2000, elbow again in 2004 and removed my BACOB in 2015. BTW a BACOB is a Big a$$ed Chunk Of Bone about the size of a clementine orange that had grown in my knee. In all these cases he was very professional and very proficient. He was very serious all the time except when I mentioned it was a knee of a team mate that he had repaired that had hit my elbow and then he smiled and said "I bet the knee was ok" :) I would highly recommend Dr. Wilkinson to anyone who needs an orthopedic surgeon.
