After fantastic success in 2019 for my left hip resurfacing it was time to head back to Ottawa from Newfoundland for Hip Resurfacing surgery for my other hip in Sept 2023. Dr. Kim and his team are the "best of the best" His Assistant Nancy went above and beyond and was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Dr. Kim is in a league of his own and I'm so grateful to have found such a wonderful surgeon!! I'm so happy to have my life back after living in pain and unable to walk for the last 2.5 years , and look forward to downhill skiing this winter without pain . Heading out now for another pain free walk. Thanks again Dr. Kim and Team!!!

I had hip replacement surgery done by Dr. Kim. Dr. Kim an outstanding surgeon who made my anterior hip replacement surgery experience a 10 out of 10. Very little pain and with the quick recovery time, I was walking unaided within 6 weeks. Just need to get his Administrative Assistant, Nancy, on the same page. Thank you Dr. Kim for your outstanding service.

Dr.Kim did both my Hip resurfacing surgeries, im a 22 year old that loved playing sports, he talked me through both surgeries and what was going to happen and how much it would benefit me. 2 years later and i have had no issues with the hips and can do anything i cant to again.

Dr. Kim did a hip resurfacing for me in March 2020.
I was living in Kingston at the time. Had 2 other surgeons look at my joint and they wanted to do a complete hip replacement. I'd researched a lot and found I was a perfect candidate for a resurfacing. I questioned the Kingston surgeons about this and they both said resurfacing was not an option for me. Well, I searched for resurfacing surgeons in Ontario and found only 2. Dr. Kim being one of them. Found out he was one of the pioneers in Ontario for this procedure and was practicing in Ottawa. I called his office to make sure I could get referred to him. His receptionist explained there was a new, central referring agency, The Total Joint Assessment Clinic and I'd have to go through them. My family doctor sent in a new request and I met with TJAC end of June 2019. They referred me to Dr. Kim as I'd requested. I believe it was September before I got an appt with him, but you have to wait for the best! At the appt, i made zero mention of the fact I had other surgeons in Kingston who wanted to do a complete hip replacement. Dr. Kim never even used the term "total replacement." After he explained everything to me, I asked why resurfacing and not replacement. He said "You're a perfect candidate for this procedure." Then i told him what other surgeons said and asked him why they thought different. "They don't know this procedure" was his answer, exactly what I had thought.
Prior to surgery, he and the team went over everything again with me. I'd already watched this surgery on youtube (I strongly suggest you do this for any surgery so you know exactly what your surgeon or doctor is talking about) and was more than ready!
Out of the OR before noon and about 1 hour later, Ontario announced effective immediately, no more elective surgeries due to Covid.
I'd waited about 6 years to have some type of surgery...waiting until it was hard to play hockey. FYI I was an in great shape, athletic 57 year old at the time.
I was told 1 year before things would be back to normal for me.
Physio was closed all over Ontario and I suck at home physio, so my rehab took longer. But I was back on the ice within 6 months and after a few skates, back to my old self!
I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Kim! I'm picky. After dealing with the egos in Kingston, it was so nice to have someone actually listen and care. His bedside manner is excellent, I never never felt rushed, he answered all of my questions and more. Not sure if I had to wait a bit during my initial appt, but I don't care. Might have been 15-30 mins behind, but when you've waited 6 years and searched for the best, I'd have sat there all day with a smile. And please remember, you're not their only patient. I'm hoping he's still working when it's time for the right side! I'm over the moon with the work he's done on my left side. I'm back to moving like a 20 year old! :)

Dr.Kim performed an anterior left hip joint replacement on me on February 25th, 2022.
I am very happy living without pain again, but I still don’t walk evenly, because of the weak hip adductors. The situation is slowly improving.
I only saw Dr.Kim during my first post surgery visit. He answered all my questions.
His “fellow surgeons” saw me during the other three visits. They were good in trying to advise me on how to improve my walking.
I swim and bike regularly and plan to xc ski this winter.
Alexa, the administrative office assistant was excellent in managing tough situation during my Covid surgery cancellation etc.

Thank you for giving me my life back Dr Kim ! I had a knee replacement in September 2021, I was in very bad shape. I could barely walk, I was using a walker. After my surgery, I can do things I’ve never done before so thank you again and again for your patience and your positive attitude. I am so grateful for my surgery and for you for giving a second chance in life !

Just recently had a left hip replacement and I cannot thank Dr. Kim and his team and staff enough! Everything went extremely well and I couldn't be happier! Truly an amazing surgeon and also a special shout out to Alexa his incredible receptionist and to the excellent staff at the Ottawa General!

Be careful and ask to meet Dr. Kim in person. Otherwise you will end up with some young unexperienced doctor who is in rush and doesn't care about your fracture or your health and will repeat your diagnosis like a parrot and not ready to listen to your real concerns.
