My son have couple appointments with Dr. Coates since he was little because of Eczema, Dr. Coates is very nice and patient with young kids, his staff also very polite and responsible

not an allergist but a pedatric doctor !! Gave me fake advice - beware!

I have given a review of Dr Coates elsewhere, but here is a new development meriting even-higher praise.

I have the highest praise for Dr Cotes. My son’s allergies to several allergens have declined in severity considerably. When I wanted to know whether (and if so, how) my son could get exposed to more grass this summer (grass is his main allergen), Dr Coates looked up his history and concluded that a gradual exposure could be attempted, and if symptoms reappeared, how to treat them.

My son has gone from severely allergic to minimally allergic under Dr Coates’ care.

I should mention, too, that when you arrange for Dr Coates to call at a certain time, he does so on the dot. Very considerate and convenient.

Dr Coates has an old-school approach - he listens well, doesn't rush you and is very willing to go the extra mile. He wanted to listen to my daughter's chest again after she'd been on treatment for a couple of weeks and said that if his receptionist says he is all booked then he'd squeeze us in during his off time. I couldn't believe how kind that was and we have an appt after hours for that. That's unheard of. He was kind and gentle with my child, provided me lots of information and tries to minimize medication for allergies if it's not needed. He was absolutely terrific. (Not that I think people should infringe on after-hours time. He just thought that timely check-in was so important for her, he sacrificed some of his evening to provide it. I am very grateful to him.)

Just started seeing Dr Coates for our daughter. I agree with the other comments. He has compassion, takes his time, asks questions and explains in detail what is happening with the immune response. He even suggested to throw our daughters stuffy into the drier only to get rid of ‘dust’ instead of washing it all the time, which destroys fibres, so she will have it longer. Sweet I thought.
Very knowledgeable too.
Took a couple months to initially see him but now that we have he is very approachable and returns calls quickly.
Highly recommend.

Both of my children have been seeing Dr. Coates for their allergies since mid 2020. I have found him to be very patient and helpful.

My little one has seen more than allergist in the city and our experience with Dr Coates far surpasses our other visits. He is an older gentleman, extremely knowledgeable, punctual, and took the time to address all our my concerns. At no point did I feel rushed. You can tell this is one of the rare doctors who truly cares about his craft and you are not just a quota to hit and have out the door for the next. Thank you Dr Coates!
