Dr Smith is professional, timely, pleasant- and contrary to the last persons post - not retired :). I’ve known him for over 40 years and highly recommend him!

I found out by chance from my ENT that Dr. Smith retired in January 2017 and did not tell any patients! He also does not have a replacement. Hundreds of patients are now stranded without an allergist and my family doctor said it may take over a year to get into another. I am on a shot schedule and my serum is going to expire before a year is up. What am I going to do?? I contacted the Ontario Society of Allergy, Immunology and asthma and they do not care.

Like one of the other posters I arrived for an appointment today only to find out that he had retired one week ago and had not bothered to contact his clients directly. Ridiculous.

Arrived for my appt. only to be told I did not have one. The receptionist was completely uncaring and lacked any sort of compassion and people skills. I was shocked at the way she addressed me and my family doctors office. Completely unprofessional.

I honestly don't know what the posters before me are referring to. Yes it's an older building so not stroller friendly, but there's maybe 15 stairs so not a big deal. Receptionist is friendly but not chipper (which is good imo), nurse was friendly and knowledgeable and careful. Dr Smith was friendly and professional, on time for my appointment and courteous. Bedside manner wasn't all sugar coaty but who cares? You want someone smart or do you want someone who sugar coats? Great doctor, great experience. Thank you Dr Smith!

I was sent to see the Dr. because I had several severe reactions at a time of year I'm not usually allergic to anything. I had taken great care not to be needing medication at the time of the appointment so I brought in photos of what I looked like during the episodes- swollen lips, eyes, blistered hives around my throat. I expected to be given a course of treatment that would keep me out of the emergency room again. What I got was allergy tests that told me nothing new about my condition, were not as thorough as ones I had previously. His recommendation was to avoid the allergens- but we haven't discovered one that makes sense in January- and to use OTC allergy medicine daily. the facial swelling and hives were probably "adult Acne" _ my skin is like porcelain. Two week slater I was back at Emerge with another flare up. Four weeks later I was back at Emerge with a very serious asthma attack. Now 7 months later I finally get in to see a dermatologist to get my "adult acne" treated. Of course she was very confused, since I have no trace of adult acne, but when she saw the pictures she suggested I get to a competent allergist before something really serious happens.

Have seen this doc 3 times, once for myself and twice for my now 4 yr old. We will not go back again, It is totally useless to go here to get confirmed what you already know. when we went back for my daughter he diagnosed her with a milk allergy and told us to give her soy milk, i guess he did not even bother to check her file as soy is her biggest allergy and was the reason why we had to see him at first. Imagine the carelessness. Thank God my kid's allergies are not anafalactic and they turned out to be relatively mild . Don't expect anything helpful here.
