Dr. Malik has been my psychiatrist for many years, and I can't express enough gratitude for the exceptional care I've received. From the very first appointment, it was clear that Dr. Malik is not just my psychiatrist but also a true advocate for my well-being.

I didn't like his impatient and immature manner, the way he would talk over you and his over eagerness to prescribe dangerous medication without even bothering to go through the process of diagnosing. He is just slap dash.

Dr Malik is the only psychiatrist who has successfully treated me. He is, by far, the most knowledgeable, understanding and helpful psychiatrist I’ve met. From my perspective, Dr Malik is so well researched that he can successfully treat symptoms as opposed to giving the standard, generic treatment associated with a diagnosis. He has a unique and groundbreaking approach to mental health. Dr Malik always explains the medications well and in a way that I can understand. I would 100% recommend Dr Malik.

Not good experience. He constantly talked over the top of me, quite arrogant. I am not a talkative person so I found it troubling that I was not given the opportunity to express myself. He refused to give me a diagnosis because he said he is a “functional Psychiatrist” meaning he just prescribes drugs. Wow, so bad especially when he asked me what I had previously been diagnosed with. Seems he doesn’t want to do any actual work, rely on others and just hand out mood stabilisers (whether or not you have bipolar doesn’t matter).
One other thing. I chose to try the drugs he prescribed and I developed what I believed were serious side effects. When I rung the Hills Clinic to ask what I should do I was just given the message that he won’t talk over the phone and next appointment is in 2 months. Would not even say whether I should stop the drugs cold turkey or taper down. Poor follow up care from Malik and the Hills Clinic.

Dr Malik is one of those rare doctors who listens to the patient and tailors medications to their reactions. He is not afraid of asking the patient how the medication is affecting them. After being told by public hospital psychiatrist that I could not change my medications for at least two years I knew I needed a second opinion. I highly recommend Dr Malik to anyone who wants to be in a consultative relationship with their psychiatrist.
