Biography

Dr. Charles Cohen is passionate about orthodontics and takes great satisfaction in treating every patient as an individual. He loves the challenge of analyzing each patient’s dental condition, smile and face to develop a unique plan that will help them obtain a radiant smile. Dr. Cohen believes in early screening and intervention to prevent future complications that may require more extensive orthodontic treatment if left unchecked. Born and raised in Montreal, Dr. Cohen is delighted to call Ottawa his home. As an adolescent, he had braces to alleviate crowding and correct his bite. This early, positively life-changing experience shaped his professional career. It gave Dr. Cohen an incredibly personal understanding of how orthodontics can profoundly transform one’s appearance, smile and self-confidence. Dr. Cohen received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from McGill University, graduating at the top of his class. During that time, he earned numerous awards recognizing his academic and clinical achievements. After dental school, Dr. Cohen was accepted into the Postdoctoral Orthodontic program at the University of Colorado, where he received both a Master’s of Science in Dentistry and a Specialty certificate. Dr. Cohen was educated using the latest technologies available, including Invisalign, “hidden” or lingual braces, temporary anchorage devices, and three-dimensional cone beam computerized imaging. To stay current with the rapidly evolving field of orthodontics, Dr. Cohen regularly attends continuing education courses. He is also a member of the following professional organizations: ● Canadian Association of Orthodontists (CAO) ● Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC) ● American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) ● Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) ● Ontario Dental Association (ODA) ● Ottawa Dental Society (ODS) With a great appreciation for nature Dr. Cohen values being active outdoors. When he is not practicing orthodontics, he enjoys skiing, hiking and golfing. Dr. Cohen also likes to read, watch movies, and spend time with his wife and two daughters.
