Excellent and professional from start to finish. Jane provided clear, concise and timely prep instructions and the Queensway Carleton completed smooth pre-op set. Dr. Winckel fully explained the procedure, sang (slightly off key, I might add) a holiday tune , and performed the colonoscopy effectively and I as the patient felt not even the slightest discomfort. My first visit and colonoscopy with Dr. Winckel was 5 years ago, a memorable and excellent experience for me. . Prior to my colonoscopy, Dr. Winckel had explained clearly what I should expect, and I was relieved that the results of the procedure were smooth flowing. The medical staff and technicians at the Carleton Hospital assisting Dr. Winckel treated me with the kindest care as I had been extremely nervous expecting the worse results The entire procedure was over before I knew it.
Here I am, once again, due for another colonoscopy booked in November 2023 with Dr. Winckel at the same hospital.
My fears from my first colonoscopy are laid to rest thanks the professional and caring staff at the Carleton Hospital years ago. I am grateful that Dr. Winckel will be at the helm of my colonoscopy this time too which reassures me that I am in the best of care.
I rate Dr. Winckel with 5 stars for his excellence in this medical specialty.

Not life threatening surgery just colonoscopy but having seen another doctor previously with a nightmare of a procedure, he has restored my faith in doctors. Bedside manner is amazing and so is his staff.

Yes he is the man who killed my father with his poor surgery skills. That poor man went through 4 surgeries in 5 days just because this distracted doctor forgot to close the tie of a blood vessel inside the old man’s body. This is what happens when we put all our trust on wrong doctors. These doctors who obtain medical degrees somehow and there is the start of downfall of many patients like my dad.

Saw this surgeon about a possible hernia operation. He said not necessary unless it's really bothering you. "Stay away from surgeons if possible," he said. Good advice from everything I've read.

Recommended by my GP, I went to seek medical help from Dr. Winckel for hernia surgery last year. It was a wonderful experience. His staff (Jane) is also very helpful. As expected, the surgical procedure was unquestionably a success. Thanks for making it possible for me to return to normal lifestyle and work.

Had surgery for an inguinal hernia about 2 years ago: since then having severe chronic pain interfering with my quality of life. The physician seemed to be competent but did not explain clearly that risk prior to the surgery. Did say on subsequent consultations for re evaluation that the problem can happened... did not have any specific recommendations or plan to try to control or improve the situation: said it was part of the game...
