I had robotic kidney cancer surgery with Dr.Peter Black on August 8, 2023.
He did excellent state-of-art robotic surgery, and he saved my kidney. I am thrilled with his work and manner. And I am always grateful for his work.

I first met with, Dr. Black when I was diagnosed with a kidney tumor back in 2014, or 2015. I was really impressed with the way that he explained everything in great detail from all the tests that had/ needed to be completed with in a fixed , Time Frame! That was; 4 months!... It was a lot of tests that had been scheduled for me. I'm so greatful for living in the, Vancouver area at the time I saw, The Good Dr.
Note!: I wad going to give up, at the time when I found out what I had, but! Dr. Black conselled me, and gave me a chance to fight with everything I had in me. Dr. Black told me, "To look into his Eyes, Frank you are Not the Kind of Person to Give Up Like That, to me, you Look.like a Fighter, and also you are going to make it. He was "Right!" I did make it! Within the 4 month Time Frame I was out of Sergey and getting back to my Healthy life of fulfillment. I could say more but I don't think there is enough space on this screen, so I can say this,"I Thank You, Dr. Black with Everything in my Heart and Spirit for giving me Another Shot at the Game of Life. "Big Time!" The Tears are running down my face while I'm Writing this Message to you on your Ratings. Dear Dr. If you ever need a, War Chief, Ever! I will be there in a Heart Beat. Why? I was diagnosed with IC with Hunners ulcers in 2011. I went through 10 years of different treatments, ranging from bladder installations to several surgery’s to remove the ulcers but inevitably they came back . As the years went by the pain became more unbearable.
My urologists referred me to Dr Black and that is when I began to have hope for a future without pain. We went to my appointment and explained to Dr Black what life has been like with IC, it ruled my life and was devastating. I had decided that a radical cystectomy was the route I wanted to go, this is major surgery but I was prepared to take that step.
Dr Black explained the benefit of an Indiana Pouch and this option made sense to me . I had my surgery in Nov 2020 and have never looked back . I now have a stoma and have to catheterize several times a day, it is worth it .
I now have a full life, pain free and thank Dr Black every day in my thoughts.
We’ve always enjoyed an active lifestyle and I am back doing the activities I love . Hiking, mountain biking,skiing,paddling and enjoying life. No longer cancelling important events because I couldn’t tolerate the pain .
I would also like to mention Joanne in Dr Blacks office ,she was so supportive and there was never a time she didn’t get back to me .
I continue to have phone appts with Dr Black we don’t live in Vancouver so this works well.
As far as Dr Black not visiting me in the hospital every day, seriously, he did his job and had a great team checking on me in every day . I felt well taken Care of.

I met with Dr. Black for an initial consult and was extremely impressed with his approachable, knowledgable and calm communication style. I feel like I am in great hands and appreciated the thoughtful care plan he and his team put together for me to monitor my kidney. I work in the private health care sector and have high expectations for care providers and was more than satisfied with the care, attention and detail he offered. I feel like I won the urologist lottery!

We are very happy from meeting with Dr Black on last Friday 12 :00. You are a professional and great doctor and thank you for being so much more than we ever would have thought we could find in a doctor. You’re such a delightful person and a dedicated doctor. We know that your work is very busy however you still patiently explain everything to us. You understand our fear and sadness from cancer as new patients. We lack the proper expertise in navigating the whole treatment process of prostate cancer and we are feeling overwhelmed, isolated and terrified by the danger of prostate cancer and various information on the different treatments.You are a doctor we can trust and your confidence and professionalism have enabled me and my husband to face cancer. The courage and hope of recovery gives our family the strength to face the challenges of this life. Thank you for being our hope and to making everything alright in the end. Peter Black may be a great surgeon but he is the worst urologist you could ever have. He doesn’t care at all about his patients. Once he has operated on you, you basically don’t exist to him. I came through one of the most radical surgeries for bladder cancer.
I only saw for a couple of minutes the whole time him I was at VGH. He gets all his residents ti do all his work for him and doesn’t care in the least for his patients once they’ve been operated on. I had many complications following my surgery and he was impasible to contact. His follow up care with his patients is at 0%. You basically don’t exist once you’re out of the operating room, the worst urologist ever!!! Never have him as your doctor

Very poor responding inquiries thru secretary many calls and emails unanswered from doctors,patients,nurses.

Referred to remove a bladder polyp in a difficult location. Previous urologist tried for 45 minutes and could not get it. Dr. Black and his Fellow took care of it painlessly in 5 minutes. First rate!
