As a kidney stone carrier, I have been seeing Dr. Paterson on and off for years. He is very thorough and caring. He follows up regularly to determine if kidneys stones are prevalent and if treatment is required. After a procedure he always follows up and answers questions and concerns. His staff have been with him for years and are always kind and competent. I feel truly blessed to have a specialist like Dr. Paterson taking care of me.

Dr. Paterson performed Prostrate Laser Surgury for me recently. He was kind, listened to my concerns and provided a life changing procedure that satisfied my expectations. He followed up on my progression though out my overnight hospital stay and post operative time. I would highly recommend his special skills to anyone considering future medical solutions.

Dr Paterson performed Holep surgery on me for my enlarged prostate (BPH). Its been five weeks now and I’m emptying my bladder fully whenever I wish with a good stream and am much more comfortable generally. His staff (Kristina) were very helpful and he was excellent in discussing the procedure and following up afterwards. There was very little pain and I was out of UBCH next morning. I have had no leakage issues which was one of my main concerns, We are very fortunate to have Dr. Paterson here in BC - I thought I might have to go the US to get this done until I was referred to him. I should have had this done a few years in hindsight.

We had the fortunate pleasure of having Dr. Ryan Paterson perform laser surgery on my husbands prostrate & he was amazing. Discussed everything before surgery, called me right after surgery, phoned on 2nd day of discharge & again 2 weeks later. Absolutely no pain & urination back to normal within a couple of weeks.
All Dr’s should learn from Dr. Ryan Paterson for his knowledge, exceptional bed-side manner & taking the time to not only discuss everything but really listen & answer all questions & concerns.
We highly recommend Dr. Ryan Peterson! We will be forever grateful for his kindness & skills.

I had the fortunate experience of dealing with Dr Paterson when I came in with extreme kidney stone pain the had been stuck in the ureter. I had been dealing with the acute pain for for almost a week with 2 prior visits to LGH Emergency in the past 3 days. I ended up at VGH Emergency on the 3rd visit where Dr Paterson performed an emergency surgery on a stat holiday that likely saved me for going into renal kidney failure. I followed up with Dr Paterson a month later to have a stent removed and I was impressed with his expertise, professionalism and a genuine sense of apathy. I would rate him extremely high and I feel fortunate in having him as my Urologist.

BEWARE this urologist. He hid a tumour diagnosis from me for two years. He then removed me as his patient after I made a complaint to Vancouver Coastal Health. If you are one of his patients with ongoing testicular pain, get your ultrasounds done!!! He will discourage you from getting them done but this is the only way I found out about the tumour.
