We spent years trying to get support at school for my granddaughter. Dr. Wilkes was friendly, caring, insightful and willing to help. She saw all the referrals and assessments we had done and was confounded that the school would not provide the necessary support. She offered to write a letter with specific requirements for her new school. Such a relief after years of hearing that "she's too smart and capable to need an aid" "she can do it if she tries hard enough", even though she's clearly struggling with initiating and completing work, interacting with peers, and is visibly overwhelmed and overstimulated. This all started in Kindergarten. She repeated Kindergarten hoping it would help, and by the end of Grade 2 this year, she didn't want to go to school, and was exhausted every day. Her teacher was wonderful and really tried, but when a Principal decides not to provide support it's pretty difficult. It's been heartbreaking seeing this wonderful little soul struggling so much and feeling like everyone is always disappointed in her. We look forward to starting a new school with documentation from a psychiatrist supporting all the accommodations that have been identified by other professionals, spanning more than 5 years. Dr. Wilkes deserves five stars from me.

My oldest daughter was struggling with anxiety , depression and anger issues. Each time we went she would go in for her appt and turn after she would ask to see me separately. I found that strange. I worked in a Psychologists office and the clients we sent there went for medication.
She diagonzed my.15 yr old with several disorders after only a couple of visits. At 15 you can't properly doagnose any disorders. . This set off warning bells but my daughter liked her so against my better judgment we continued. As a single working patent it seemed that my daughter and I were growing farther apart. It never dawned on me that Mrs Wilke was telling my daughter that it was my fault she was unhappy and that I made her life difficult!!!! I decided to ask her about it.
Before I could do that things got really weird. When she pulled me into her pffice alone again i was shocked by what she said. The person she described was not my daughter. My daughter was depressed and had anxiety. Her opinion was that my daughter was spoiled , only thought of herself. She felt that she was vindictive and made things sound like it was hopeless and I couldn't trust her , that she mocked me and that she would need a lot medicine. I was confused so when we went to the car I
started asking questions.. My daughter told me that I was to blame that the psychiatrist said I was hopeles. Why would a competent Dr pit us against each other. This was 5 yrs ago and we are still not very close. I don't recommend her at all.

I had Dr. Wilkes for over a decade before adult care. Compassionate and knowledgeable. Does not give up on her patients unless they do not try her advice. Great for children with complex medical diagnoses. Highly recommend.

Was put on medication for schizophrenia when I was 16, while not at all having schizophrenia. She also got weirded out by me having a same-sex attraction. So, that was kinda weird. Really hope she's gotten better with that stuff. Other than that I remember her being a pretty nice person. I really looked forward to seeing her every appointment until I turned 18 and that was it off on the streets I go, no longer deserving of youth-oriented assistance or help. Thanks.

Dr. Wilkes is a very kind and competent psychiatrist. When I had to be referred to an adult psychiatrist after turning 18, I had a horrible experience. Wish I never had to have left her care!

Best psychiatrist ever for children. So kind and soft spoken, always willing to listen. 7 years now for our girl. Probably saved her life and ours. Turning 18 soon and Dr. Wilkes said she won’t just cut her off.... Thank you!

Incredible doctor. Most likely contributed to saving my daughter’s life. My daughter’s issues are complex; Dr. Wilkes is patient, kind, understanding of children. We will miss her as our daughter will be turning 18 soon.

absolutely useless.Did nothing for my son but condescend him. No meds, no help, nothing. Can't tell when a child is depressed? Can't take the time to do blood work to see that some of the hormone numbers are lower/higher than they should be? Anyone can point fingers and call someone a name, you don't need a university degree for that.
