Overpriced service. Paid almost $700 for glasses and exam. Never again!

I have been getting my eyes checked by her for the past 3 years and have had a positive experience each time. She is knowledgeable in her field and explains what she is doing as you go a long so that you feel engaged and have an understanding of what she is checking and why. She makes the atmosphere a lot more casual and makes you feel at ease while checking your eyes. In addition, her assistant does a great job at helping you choose a glasses frame that suits you.

Dr. Lu is a very knowledgeable optometrist. I went in for a thorough eye examination out of fear of retinal detachment. She patiently took the time to explain to me the warning signs and repeatedly told me what to do in case of an emergency. It's also comforting to know that she has the latest technology to do a comprehensive exam of your eyes and be aware with the state of the eyes. I find her quite amuzingly blunt and talkative, which is pleasant for me because it eases the anxiety I usually associate medical appointments with.

Our family had been going to her for many years, we very much appreciate her thoroughness and generosity with trial lenses. At one point my husband tried another optometrist only to go back to Dr. Lu as her found her testing more rigorous. She is talkative, but also incredibly friendly and her hearts in the right place. I never thought the conversation distracted her from the tests.

Always a pleasure to visit Dr. Doris Lu. Very informative doctor who takes the hassle out of getting your eyes checked. Her staff is very polite and accommodating. Would always recommend to a friend.

I have been very happy with the care I receive from Dr Lu. Yes, a visit costs more than some, but there are more tests performed routinely, and with a family history of retinal problems, I want to be sure trouble is caught early. Having had an issue missed by a previous eye doctor, I appreciate the additional testing. Dr Lu has also been very generous with free trial lenses and I like being able to compare the feel of different types before buying (and, yes, the prices on lenses are very competitive). I have definitely not had this experience at other places.

I am delighted with the care and professional nature of Dr. Doris Lu. She was very thorough in her determination of my contact lens requirements and was thoughtful in ensuring that I felt comfortable in adapting to the use of the lenses. The staff in the office were also most knowledgeable and accommodating and very pleasant. I would highly recommend Dr. Lu.

I have been seeing Doctor Lu for around 20 years. I find her to be incredibly thorough and knowledgable with all the latest technology available in her office to assess your eyes. Unlike other doctors in the medical field in Ottawa, I have never had to wait in the office at all for my appointments. Alos, she is the kind of person who is funny without intending to be so I find every visit amusing.

I had an awful experience. She is so rude, and doesn't seem to care about your eyes at all. All she cares about is getting you to spend as much money as possible. She charges at least twice as much as regular optometrists. I am still so angry that I wasted my time with her. The worst part? I went to her about five months ago, and I'm fairly sure she gave me the wrong prescription (even though it cost 200 dollars, because with my new prescription my eyes are always sore and my vision is blurry. So now I have to go back to another optometrist for yet ANOTHER eye exam. This is getting really expensive. Do NOT go to her.

While Doris was doing my eye exam, she wouldn't stop telling me that I should get fitted for contacts, and that it would only cost $200(!!)It felt like she wasn't paying attention to me at all. So unprofessional. After the exam, she and her receptionist were badgering me to try on glasses, trying to convince me to get two pairs PLUS a pair of sunglasses. I felt so panicked. This was my first time getting glasses on my own, so I didn't know if I was even allowed to leave and check for glasses elsewhere! I asked the lady if I could come back with my boyfriend later, but she seemed to not want me to leave. She told me to just call him and ask him to come over. It was SO overwhelming! So I finally bought a pair of glasses for 500 dollars. I felt so used and bewildered. I went home and did a bit of research online about pricing. I realized I had been ripped off! I went right back and got a refund, but I still had to pay 160 dollars for the eye exam. Ridiculous! It was an awful experience.
