I've gone to him a few times now and each time he's been less than helpful. It seems like he's only interested in getting the money from the extra's he charges. My last appointment I was scheduled to get a check-up (yearly) and when i showed up for the appointment, he tells me i'm not allowed to get annual check-ups (only 1 every 3 years he says...) and that if i wanted to see him again i'd need another appointment! So i leave his office fuming and call OHIP, which tells me i'm indeed allowed to get a annual check-up....unreal! My husband never trusted this guy after his first appointment years ago, and now I see why - this will be my last appointment with him too. In the past he's always been very aloof and always seemed to want to answer things as quickly as would get me out of the office and the next person in. He's also never followed up with any of my prior visits, nor was he even aware of most of my medical history when i visited (once a year usually).

For years he has been very helpful and knowledgeable with me. I am a 57 Y.O. prediabetic patient and he has been always working hard with me to help me lose my weight. He always make the extra mile to make sure my health is in good condition. I have to recognice his patience and perseverance to help me with my struggle in losing weight. I gave him two thumbs up!!!

Maybe he knows a lot, but putting such knowledge into practice is a differente thing. The worst record keeper doctor I've ever met. A dinosaur. His lack of good record keeping can cause huge mistakes. It happened to me.

Doctor Patrick Barnabé is the best doctor I ever known. He takes all the time for listening to you. The secretary is also very kind and helpful. He also found what my problems was when any doctor could'nt find it! He saved my life!

I was not at all happy with him the one time myself and my 17-year-old daughter went to see him. My daughter needed a note stating that she could not do her gym class (track and field) exam because she had injured her hip (she was seeing a physiotherapist). Dr. Barnabé gladly wrote her a note, but he also took the liberty, without knowing her medical history, to tell her she might run faster if she lost weight. This devastated my daughter. She has always been very athletic and particularly muscular (and very good at track and field, if I may add), which I guess could be mistaken for being a little heavy (although a doctor should know better). Furthermore, she was still somewhat in recovery from a severe bout of anorexia, which had landed her in the hospital on various occasions, and was bulimic at the time of the appointment. I found it very unprofessional to comment on such a delicate issue without knowing her medical history, and that is why I would never recommend him to anyone.

I like that Dr. Barnabé is not a pill-pusher. Recommends exercise and dietary changes instead and these have always worked very well for me.

I've been a patient of Dr. Barnabe's for about 7 years. While I have no doubt he is knowledgeable, his level of interest in my own wellbeing seems limited. I wait over a year for test results despite calling repeatedly for the results always being told that he had either forgot to send them or didn't follow up. He took me off a medication without a back-up plan for my condition which has resulted in a general worsening of the illness. Overall, I feel like he's just stamping his time sheet every day versus putting in a genuine effort to help. As well, the receptionist is his wife, poor command of English and generall pretty blasé and cold towards patients. At any rate, am switching doctors.

Dr. Patrick Barnabé is an extraordinary Doctor, knowledgeable, always punctual, reliable, assesses your condition in an exact manner, he doesn't mind spending time listening to your concerns, he addresses each and every point you make, takes you to the examination room where he uses his skills to determine your condition, give you a sound diagnosis, prognosis and treatment, and he is also fast in determining if you need to be sent to a specialist or if you need surgery. He is always reachable at the Office or at home and if there is an emergency you are the first he will see, he will visit you at the Hospital if necessary to make sure that you are fine and when discharged he will do a follow up with you and your surgeon.
