Have been seeing Dr. Cripps off and on since 2012 and can't understand all the negative comments! She has always been professional, courteous and always ready to answer all my questions. I have gone through 6 cancers (ear, colon, lower lung, brain, upper lung and now brain again) and she is the only Dr. that has explained everything so I can understand.

This is definitely just a job for her - she has no compassion for her patients and will not go over and above to ensure they are receiving the best treatment plan. Dr. chripps is rude and has no bedside manners. She needs a reality check and for someone to remind her what business she is working in and what people are going through.

Dr. Cripps is by far the WORST Dr out there. If you are reading this before going to see her for your first time - don't give her the benefit of the doubt after reading the negative comments --- the comments are there for a reason. She has the worse bed side manners, no compassion and her knowledge base is very low. Nobody (sick or family members) going through this should have to deal with such an uncompassioniate person. Do yourself a favour and find another oncologist -- it may even save your life.

Very disappointed. A friend said to me "Oncologists are in the business of saving lives...but....if the diagnosis is terminal or near to terminal...they fall completely off the radar" How true this was. First impression with Dr. Cripps was ...'cold...indifferent...and although she outlined a 'new clinical treatment' for my sisters type cancer, she also hit us with the 2 X 4 saying....'well even with this new treatment, you'll have about 11 months". We didn't ask for a prognosis at that point. She was indifferent, removed, and didn't seem to have empathy or compassion. Even a shred of this shown would have been appreciated. I concur with the comments below. She came into the examination room....talked briefly...handed over information papers...left the room...in came someone...then some one after that. It was cold...clinical...and indifferent My sister was hospitalized shortly after that appointment and we asked repeatedly for her to come and see us all in hospital. Left messages. Although my sister, in the end, chose NO treatment whatsoever, we just wanted to know more about her 'type' of cancer and what we could expect. But, it was radio silence. We were then provided the care of a palliative care doctor who is kind, compassionate, and takes the time to both listen and explain, placing my sister and her care at the forefront. As it should be.

Extremely rude and condescending to her patients and colleagues. Unfortunately, I've heard a few stories of this physician missing follow-up on important test results for patients. It's not meant to bash her, but to serve as a warning to future patients. Ottawa has a plethora of amazing oncologists and you would be better suited looking elsewhere if given the choice.

I wish there was an option for "don't know" for the ratings. I put "one" for knowledge but I think it may have been obscured by her poor communications skills. Her knowledge of cancer may be great, but her knowledge of me as a patient and her ability to communicate her knowledge was appalling. I found Dr. Cripps much like the Wizard of Oz: you keep hearing she's great, but you don't really see her. During a six-month period, I only saw her twice. Once at the initial consult, where she handed me a printed info package rather than tell me about the treatment I would be undergoing. She could have emailed it to me and saved me the trip and the parking fees. She also handed me a computer printout from a program where she had punched in some numbers about my condition and determined I had an X% chance for 5-year survival. The numbers didn't add up for me and I asked her three times to explain how she arrived at the figure. She did try, but it still didn't make sense. She then left the room and a trial clinician came in who told me that a certain drug had no side effects. Over the next four months of chemo treatments, I only saw or heard from Dr. Cripps once, when she came in an hour late for an appointment reeking of perfume in a no-scents zone. Her questions and comments made it clear she hadn't even bothered to read my file beforehand, and had no clue of my condition, treatment or ongoing problems. As others have mentioned here, she also made comments that left me gobsmacked at her lack of sensitivity. The appointment ended without giving me any guidance on managing my treatments or symptoms, and it was back to chemo for three more months. She missed my only other follow-up appointment, although another doctor did fill in for her. I then decided to switch doctors to one who actually read my file, adjusted my meds which actually relieved my symptoms, guided me through my treatment options, and saw me four times in two months; twice as much as Dr. Cripps saw me in five months. When I told Dr. Cripps I was switching, both she and her nurse made unprofessional, angry comments to me. At best, Dr. Cripps appears to be simply indifferent.

Yes, she's tough and uncompromising when it comes to fighting cancer. But she cares about her patients, knows what she's doing, and tells you the facts. I'd far rather have straight answers than feel-good waffle. If my cancer comes back (God forbid), I'll want Dr Cripps to look after me.

Jury hasn't come in yet. I am a community nurse and my spouse has stage 3 gastric CA. You cant fool me. My initial impression was ok, but the further in we got, the less I was impressed. Initially we were told it was stage II, then stage III, but don't worry, he was young and otherwise healthy. It was the surgeon who insisted on other tests and dx of gastric as opposed to esophageal CA. Then finally after 5 appts we were told altho it is stage III, it will be treated as stage IV. 3 months and still no treatment. Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing...... my impression???? run.... run.... run.....

Unprofessional , same with her nurse Shouts at you, ignore your accompanying person for your appointment, sometimes demands the person with you to leave the room without asking you first. Has not time to answer questions. Does not acknowledge you by name or when she comes into the room. Has a temper and shows it quite willingly with her arms crossed as she stares at you. She lets you know she is in command. No pleasantries exchanged as "it is a nice day" Nice to see you , how are you feeling today and how has it been since I last saw you. Nurse shouts into the phone and is forever scolding if you have not called immediately you are in the hospital Sometimes you are just too sick , no phone around, etc. You have other things more important on your mind. Besides, the hospital has called your oncologist so she knows you are in hospital. Avoid this pair, find a caring, communicative oncologist for your own well being.

I founnd this dr distracted. I only saw her once when my usual dr was away. She totally screwed up my chemo orders and thank goodness I am very knowledgeable about my treatment. I had to tell the nurse that 2 of my chemos were wrong.
