I have been a patient for 6 years and went to her to have my teeth aligned with braces. The braces were taken off prematurely and I was given a retainer to keep the alignment that I had gotten. However, my teeth continued to shift forward even as I wore my retainer nightly (as instructed). I had seen her countless times afterwards with this same problem but, she doesn't seem to care and gives me the same advice to continue wearing the retainer that is obviously not working. I had to go to another ortho to get invisalign for my top teeth.

Was a patient for about 4 years. I feel like Dr Tan and her whole team are all stuck up and try to rip you off. She consistently kept on asking me when I was turning 18 so I could sign out of the contract to have my braces removed. When I came back after a year to get a new retainer made she suggested that I spend $8000 on braces again for a year and a half. In the computer with my profile it was full of snarky comments about me as a summary from each visit. I went to another ortho who was able to just make my retainer with springs for $200. I wish I chose different ortho from the beginning. Completely unprofessional and just after your money!

We set our expectations clearly before becoming her patient to the staff that my son would need after school appointments for the treatments. At that point the doctor and staff said they will make it happen. However, during the course of the treatment, it did not feel like they were trying to accomodate our request. The height is, when his bracket fell off, I requested an appointment asap and they said they are fully booked!!! So he had to wait till his next scheduled appointment!

"5 minutes late is OK, 10 minutes late is not OK", I am told 3 days after a tornado devastated the city. My house has no power, and the city is in an emergency state. I arrive exactly on time, and I am seen by the Doctor after 12 minutes.

Met Dr. Tan the day I am supposed to have the braces on. No acknowledgement of my presence while I was waiting, and not a smile. I can understand that since she already has my business. Spent $420 so far. Teeth are supposed to go inside for alignment, and she now changes the plan to pushing the teeth outside for alignment. Excuse me? Of course it must be miscommunication, and it must me who misunderstood. How can a Dr., albeit a tooth doctor, be wrong?

I thanked her for her service, and walked away. As expected, no one cared to say goodbye when I left. Dr. Tan looked unhappy. In her shoes, I would have been too to watch a couple of thousand dollars exit the door.

As a note, if you still choose to go with her, the fix you will have (that might leave you with a smile if you are lucky) will be the most expensive treatment. Money, not care, seems to be the primary focus. It is a business after all.

I would highly recommend Dr. Tan's office to anyone. We've been taking our two children to her for a few years, and she is very thorough with her exams and honest with her opinions. She honestly told me my son will only need Ortho for cosmetic reasons, so we'll decide if we want to pursue that in a year or two. She also said my daughter will be ready to start in a year or so. We appreciate her honesty and the time she and her staff take to answer all our questions and explain everything to us. Her staff are friendly and professional. I find her prices competitively priced in Nepean/Ottawa, and I'm just happy to have her office so close to my kids' schools! We won't hesitate to return.

Dr Tan is very smart, and seems to really want the best treatment for my children. She even told me one of them doesn't need any treatment! I love the way everyone in her office seems to care about how comfortable my kids are and they are so helpful. It's a busy place but they never keep us waiting. It's amazing how well trained and knowledgable they all are. If you're thinking of going to an orthodontist I think you should hear her opinions before you decide anything.

My 14 year old daughter has been a patient of Dr Tan's for the past two years. She is coming to the end of her treatment and now she has an even, beautiful smile. She really likes all the staff at the clinic. They gave her clear instructions on how to apply her elastics and how to clean her teeth. Dr Tan's practice is professionally run. Her dental team are both friendly and knowledgeable. Appointment times are well respected.

I really wanted to like this doctor. I had seen other orthodontists, and I really wanted to believe that this lady would be the one for me to have treatment with since the other ones would only offer very limited treatment options. My first appointment with Dr. Tan seemed acceptable, enough that I went back for a second appointment to start treatment. But by that time, she had decided not to honour what she had offered previously, and instead pressured me like crazy to go for the most expensive and invasive option, and so did her dental assistant Kathy, who asked me twice about surgical orthodontics, and phrased it in such a way that the expectation was surely that I was choosing that option. I told her no, but she asked me again anyways, and even after speaking to Dr. Tan on my behalf, I was still asked again for a total of three times in one day, this time by the doctor herself, who also phrased it in such a way that meant surely it must have already been decided. I said no again to the surgery, and Dr. Tan looked positively disgusted and annoyed. I had never consented to that surgery. Beware of these people, they want the most expensive and invasive option, will pressure you and even be downright rude. They won't listen to you at all, and Kathy demanded that photos be taken even after I told her that I had some already which could be emailed in, but she insisted upon those photos anyways and then they charged me 160 dollars for photos. I do not recommend this office at all. They should honour what they say in the first place and then leave it up to the patient, and if they say no to surgery, then that means no. Awful place to be, stay away!!! As for punctuality, they had booked another patient at the exact same time as me, and they made me feel very rushed. I found it to be a truly horrible experience. Why do others like her at all? I am so surprised.
