Was referred to him through my GP for an assessment of my situation months ago. We are now in June and no paperwork has been forwarded. Multiple phone calls to the office and multiple walk-ins to ask. No return calls, no assessment sent yet. About to lose what money and benefits I have because this assessment is late. He doesn’t seem to care. Told the assessment is done and just needs to be forwarded, how hard can that be to accomplish? I don’t recommend him at all, seems like he doesn’t care about people. I feel bad for staff having to constantly make excuses for his lack of professionalism.

It’s truly upsetting to read all the negative reviews and experiences patients have received while in dr.ks care. I believe that dr.k is professional, trustworthy, sincere and quite honestly blunt about his expertise and practice. It bothers me when clients take his words as personal attacks and undermining when they’re not actually listening or seeing the real picture in reality is that you can’t get help if you keep pretending you don’t need it.

I have been a patient of dr.k’s for many years now and I believe he is one of the most underrated undermined and undervalued psychiatrists at lake ridge health. Without his support, knowledge and experience I would not be where I am today. I am grateful to know dr.k and thankful for his unconditional service and support throughout my life.

Absolutely horrible experience with Dr Khachatryan. At one of my follow-up appointments I had expressed that instead of my low appetite that I already had, that I no longer had an appetite at all. I was having to force myself to eat in order to make sure I got the nutrients needed. Dr Khachatryan asked me why I needed to eat, asked if the reason I was forcing myself to eat was because I was afraid to die, and then said that I shouldn't worry because lots of people would wish to not have an appetite, looked at me and said that I could survive without eating; which I believe was directed at my weight. At the following appointment, I needed to have my prescription refilled. When I left the appointment (which was very similar in dismissive tone as the previous one) I went to fill my prescription and the pharmacy let me know that they could not fill it due to the fact that Dr Khachatryan had given me my prescription on another patient's file/chart. I had this patient's full information, which I believe is a safety issue along with a privacy issue. When I called the office to let them know what had happened, and that they should make sure they updated the other patient's chart to make sure that it was removed from their chart, the receptionist seemed unfazed and didn't see concern with what happened. Dr Khachatryan had to call me back to ask about it and sent the correct prescription to my pharmacy. When I had my most recent follow-up with Dr Khachatryan, he used giving me the wrong chart as something for me to better handle my emotions, and implied that I should not have been upset about getting the wrong chart. When I had advised that I was being assessed for ADHD later in the month, he suggested that he could just prescribe me ADHD medication before getting the assessment because "they just give you whatever result you want at those assessments". I declined, as I would rather not be medicated for something I do not have a diagnosis for. I have always felt like he has a very antagonistic approach to my care, and has been very dismissive of my thoughts and feelings.

Was extremely rude and dismissive towards me. Never felt so unheard and alone. I was scared to seek help and this is why. Never again.

At first he was a bit dismissive, told me I still had anxiety and I shouldn’t come off the meds when I want to and feel better. He did prescribe me something new and gave options for treatment/ helped me make a plan. I do think he can work on his delivery a bit but when you settle into the conversation and he sees you’re there with an open mind and to learn his tone changes a lot. Great and knowledgeable just has a blunt no bs delivery

He can be moody: attentive one appointment and dismissive another. Wouldn’t go back to him.

He had a mean tone with me and made me feel uncomfortable.

Bestest psychiatrist I have had for NUMEROUS YEARS!! Extremely compassionate, kind, caring, & intelligent. Great at making diagnoses. Often goes above & beyond. He is IMO, THE absolute BEST at Lakeridge Heath Oshawa.

Before meeting Dr. K, I had worked with a handful of other mental health professionals who left me feeling frustrated and unheard. Dr. K, however, has been nothing but kind, understanding, and incredibly helpful. He is exceptionally intelligent and prioritizes working collaboratively with his patients, focusing on their personal health goals rather than imposing his own opinions. As a woman, I was initially hesitant to meet with a male doctor. During our first meeting, I found Dr. K somewhat reserved, but I soon realized he was simply being observant to understand me better. He was meticulously piecing together the information I shared to create an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan. Over time, our relationship developed organically, leading to genuine trust and mutual respect. I deeply appreciate everything Dr. K has done for me. If you’re looking for a professional who will simply offer comfort, you might want to look elsewhere. However, if you seek an experienced and intelligent doctor who will genuinely help you work through your challenges, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. K.
