Valeria has a very compassionate demeanor and highly considered approach to treatment which has been greatly appreciated in tailoring a treatment plan to addresses my own needs. She takes the time to listen attentively to any concerns I may have and ensures that I feel heard and understood during each session. Before she makes any adjustments to my medications, she ensures that I fully comprehend the rationale behind her recommendations, which leaves me feeling informed and capable in managing my mental health independently.

At the end of year 11 I was on the verge of quitting high school. I was struggling with study and some other friendship stressors and was ready to give up study.

Then my mum and some friends thought I might have ADHD and was referred to Dr Spivak. My school told me I was tracking for an ATAR of around 60 at the completion of year 12 in 2023.

Once I was assessed and treated by Dr Spivak, my outlook changed a lot. I was more positive about study and able to pay attention and not feel so overwhelmed. I joined a study group and my grades improved.

Not only did I not quit school, I successfully completed year 12, my mood and ability to manage emotions and stress got better, and I settled into some healthy friendships and gained a wonderful girlfriend.

On 15/12/2023 I got some fantastic news - an atar of 81.25!!!! I am so excited and will get into any of the courses I was hoping to join at Uni. I ended up getting accepted to exercise physiology at Griffith so I can pursue a pathway to physiotherapy.

And a massive part of this journey in guiding me across the finish line was Dr Spivak who has been lovely, available, approachable and has kept a close eye in this last year.

Valeria is the most compassionate, and empathetic psychiatrist I’ve ever met. She treats you like a human being. I've been seeing her for over 3 years, and I would not be where I am today without her. I feel so blessed to be able to see her (I've heard that she doesn't accept any new patients now).
