Absolutely shocking. Had there not been a witness along to back up what just happened, it’d be hard to believe how the initial session went.

Setting herself up as a “straight shooter” with lots of swearing, the doc started with a line of questioning clearly designed to put the patient on the spot (quite easy with someone sedated by medication and seeking help for exactly that) and intimidate them, then continued to use horoscope style catch all descriptions of common feelings to push towards what seemed like a pre-conceived diagnosis - a fancy subtype of bipolar that she seemed to think no layperson could ever have heard of. Constant putdowns and quite aggressive style, punctuated with remarks of “I practice science”, while refusing to listen to actual information about the patient. Topped it off with an off-hand autism ”diagnosis”, probably based on the somewhat stunned silence by that point.
Refused to discuss side effects when brought up, refused to renew the prescription for the meds she wanted to see continued.

Practice admin was difficult to reach and partly confused when it came to paperwork, appointment scheduling, and even invoicing.

Dr. Marsden is friendly, honest, and attentive, with extensive knowledge of medications. Although sometimes running late due to her meticulous nature, I highly recommend her for mental health support.
