Had my cataract surgery and follow up with Dr .McAlister and she was excellent. Everything was explained in detail by here and her support staff. On one follow up she took the time to lazer one eye that my previous doctor had done who has since retired. Dr McAlister and here staff will put you at ease through any eye surgery.

I am so glad that my optometrist referred me to Dr. McAlister for cataract surgery.
Dr.. McAlister is extremely competent. She is honest, addresses all questions, and provides comprehensive care.
She’s obviously a super boss, b/c all her staff seem happy,. Each technician does her job efficiently and pleasantly.
Speaking of efficiency, even with several patients in the waiting room, several technicians are working in separate rooms and quickly performing tests. Wait time is rarely more than 10 or 15 minutes.
Joanne, the receptionist returns phone calls, provides information , and books appointments with thoughtful spacing.
All in all, if I were to move from the K-W area, and required an ophthalmologist’s services, I would commute to see Dr. McAlister.

I recently got referred to this doctor because I have a binocular double vision issue. Prior to seeing Dr. McAlister I had had a number of appointments at the University of Waterloo Optometry Clinic. They had sent some paperwork to Dr. McAlister's office and at one point I was told by someone that Dr. McAlister had looked at the paperwork and said "she needs surgery". I found this out before I went to see her at her office. So when I did finally see her at her office she never brought surgery up at all, she now wants me to see a neurologist and have an MRI done. I also had some bloodwork done. It's like you either think I need surgery or you don't LOL. If she thinks I need surgery it's probably most likely a muscle related issue so if that's the case then why am I having these other tests and an MRI done. ?? At one point she had mentioned about sending me to Mississauga so I figured that was where the surgery would happen so all in all my first impression is not the greatest, I just feel things were somewhat sloppy.

Dr McAlister is most likely one of the finest ophthalmologists. She has a style that is far more comprehensive then most - double and triple checking everything. When I came in to see her I had gone blind in my eye after several surgeries. She methodically created a plan and slowly brought the eye back. After nearly a year of blindness - I now have 20-20 in that eye. She is smart, professional and methodical. Her entire staff team is the same. If you get referred to her - consider it a blessing.
