In short...its a year now and i feel no better in the thigh area(Full numbness.burning and deep soreness at times..unable to walk normally....the hip ball joint feels better than when i went in but thats it...im suffering with multiple joint and back issues that doesnt make it any easier...The dr is rarely in the office and when he is you wait in a room forever..From there ,he never examines, only is staff under him does.....Last visit at 10 months,he finally ordered MRIs....when i called his office his assistant went over the results quickly with me doing most the talking....and told me to see a back specialist for a bulging disk...Not any contact again with this Dr whom i initially though i was in good hands with!....Now ,i will have to seek out someone with a genuine interest in helping me rather than making a buck on surgery

Referred to Dr Segal by another patient, had an exam by him where his assistants did all the work.I then met him after waiting in the coldest room for 40 min.Dr Segal seemed caring and i felt i was in good hands for Hip Surgery. Had pre surgery tests showing all my medical history...Dr Segal tells me this surgery will have me on my feet in 4-6 weeks to a couple months....In the surgery room theysit me on a table and i touch material hanging next to the table and get a shock(i never mentioned this to anyone after surgery)....So im in recovery room a couple days and go home with a plan to recover..I follow every step to a tee and continue to have pain as the months move on...I could only do 10 therapy sessions or so because it literally crippled me...First two followups,,,no Dr Segal, just assistants and PA...Finally see the Dr after 5 months and he dismisses my pain with ..Come back in your year anniv of the surgery and commenting the surgery takes time....9 months comes and i go to see him again....This time i see two assistants again and told the DR will be right in...about 45 min later,Dr Segal comes in after i opened the door and saw he and 5 or so staff members laughing in the hallway outside my door..Throuout all the time i was supposed to have recovered i experienced NO IMPROVEMENT at all......burning and numbness in thigh from hip to knee, pinching, deep soreness mid thigh to hip and couldnt walk past a a slow crippled pace....I get sent for MRIs and lumbar xray........I call the office for results and a gameplan. and am told Dr Segal only comes into office on Tues..id get a call back.....2 days later i get a call from someone else who casually went over the results only as i asked specific questions...i have a lumbar issue also....I asked if i should see Dr Segal again and am told to see a back Dr...No mention of a followup with Segal again.....I will....but it wont be in that office...I am very disappointed in Dr Segal...i really trusted him and thought he was a good guy..may very well be but he dropped the ball on my care in my opinion!

Dr. Segal performed total hip replacement when 12 other doctors refused to operate because of a higher BMI. He had no hesitation at all. I was out of hospital in 1 1/2 days, walking 2 hours after recovery. No pain whatsoever. I bless him every day of my life. He is my guardian angel and I cannot stop recommending him to everyone I know, he also, speaks to you with care, sympathy and compassion. Love, love, love, him!

Dr. Ayal Segal performs hip replacement with perfect tecnique. I just one week I am walking w & w/o a cane Pain Free. All of my friends have gone to and recommended the H.S.S in Manhatten, but I am glad I did the research because SYOSSET HOSPITAL has amazing care for hips and knees. Anyone who lives on Long Island with a Hip problem should nevereven think of Going to Manhatten ever again.

Dr.Segal performed a TKR on me 10/10/2011 . I was riding a recumbent, stationary bike 5 miles/day one month after surgery.I went back to work(physical warehouse work) 6 weeks after surgery. Today is 12/21/11 and I feel great. I am 5'10" and weighed 178 lbs. the day of surgery.I'm a 54 y.o. man and I lost 26 lbs in preparation for the operation. Dr.Segal is a fine surgeon with an exceptional skill set and he is a nice man.He and his staff were kind and answered my questions and made me feel comfortable. Please note that no matter how good the surgeon is, the patient must be diligent with rehab. I have already recommended Dr.Segal and will continue to do so. Happy holidays, Neil
