Dr.Alice Klinkhoff, wasn't a good Dr. For me. She was very rude to me.

I have been under her care for almost three decades now and each and every time I feel blessed to have her helping me deal with R.A.. When I left her at the clinic in Surrey (Cloverdale) yesterday morning, I told her and nurse Gaelene (I hope I got the spelling right) they were two angels taking care of people.

Disorganized office and staff. Did not listen. Did not really examine me. Did not seem interested in helping me.

Dr. Klinkoff has been my rheumatologist for many years. I really like her as she is very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend her to anyone as she is the best in this field. She always listen to what I have to say and always has answers to whatever I ask her. I would not want to change her for anyone else. She is excellent!

Extremely knowledgeable, respectful, my file was updated with various lab work ups I’ve had in the years since I last saw her… I came with many questions and focused concerns. She answered me honestly and was very helpful. She asked probing follow up questions that I hadn’t considered,… she is no nonsense, practical exactly what I need

She arrived late, behaved dismissively, and ignored the information I gave her regarding my family history and personal health history. While I understand the importance of testing a multitude of factors to rule out other potential conditions, her testing resulted in the affirmation that I don't have something I didn't come to have tested and she also applied the same test to what I was there to have tested in the first place. This particular test is irrelevant to the particular condition of concern I have, yet, it was a key factor in her dismissal of investigating a potential diagnosis further. Her questions regarding my condition of concern were ill-informed (asking if I presented with symptoms that related conditions carry but that are specifically not present in this particular subtype and is not a diagnostic criterion). Further, her letter summarizing my rheumatology consult was inconsistent with the information I provided and the tests conducted such as stating there was no presence of "A" but there is the presence of "B" while "A" was present, tested for, and tested positive and "B" was not present. I understand mistakes are made, and simple switches occur when revising notes, however, this error significantly misrepresents my symptoms. These symptoms were tested, noted, and discussed explicitly during the appointment but are not reflected in her letter from my referral. Although I have a diagnosed family history of this condition and present with many of the symptoms, she made a point to mention that pursuing diagnoses of rheumatological genetic disorders are "trendy" and not important to my day to day (despite it potentially meaning that I am immunocompromised); that any management largely revolved around maintaining a healthy weight, exercise, and diet despite my being in the lower range of "healthy weight", leading an intentionally active and low-impact life, and the 14+ years of pain I experience from my symptoms, daily, that is sufficient to have me qualify for disability.

Dr. Klinkhoff was very helpful near the beginning of my RA journey; however I had an urgent phone call with her and when she answered the phone she sighed/groaned loudly and made me feel as if I was bothering her. I did not feel any compassion from her and was hoping she would be more kind and caring, as sometimes it can be scary being a patient and taking many medications. I feel as though she could care less about my well-being and makes me feel as though I am a nuisance whenever I contact her.

She was my rheumatologist for several years when I lived in Vancouver. She was so caring and thorough. I felt she went out of her way to help relieve my pain. She is awesome.

Dr. Klinkhoff has helped manage my RA for over 20 years. She continues to demonstrate compassion, knowledge and care and because of this I’ve referred her to everyone I know who’s seeking a rheumatologist.
