Dr. Fowlis has been my cardiologist for the past 17 years - both Dr Fowlis and his wonderful staff are caring and knowledgeable - I recently called, reporting that my heart was not in rhythm - Dr. Fowlis had me come in almost immediately. I was in flutter and was sent for treatment that same day. Dr. Fowlis truly cares for his patients.

I came in after getting some special imaging done because of a very rare heart disorder discovered to be running in my family. I realize it's incredibly rare (the Doctor said he gets 1 patient every ~10 years with it) but the least he could have done is google it before I came in. He obviously knows a lot about the physiology of the disease when it's manifested, but he knew nothing about the disease progression itself. He told me a variety of blatantly wrong facts about its symptoms and my next steps, leaving me feeling confused and crazy. Thankfully, it turns out I do not have signs of the disease right now, but it's a progressive disease that can manifest at any time in life and is often asymptomatic until unexpected death (heart failure) at a young OR old age. Yet he told me I don't need to check on it over time and that I'd already know if I had it, I'd already have symptoms, etc etc. I confirmed with my father's cardiologist in Toronto, who dealt with my farther's cardiac arrest resulting from this disease, that what he said was all wrong. It was a very frustrating and upsetting experience for me. I felt like because I am a young woman he was just dismissing my concerns and telling me not to worry my pretty little head about it. I was glad to have my own thorough research confirmed by cardiologists more experienced with this disease. Again, I get that it's a rare condition but the easily googled information on it directly contradicts nearly everything he told me - the least he could have done is refresh himself on the topic before inviting me into his office.

Didn't have a clue what to expect other then my health concern was getting annoying and I wanted to get back to feeling normal. Dr "Ronnie" was friendly, great sense of humour but above all else a true pro at what he does. I was diagnosed and on my way to feeling better in no time at all. You talk about trust in doctors...well his entire office earned my trust as well as my respect.

I saw Dr. Fowlis yesterday for the first time and was extremely pleased. He has fantastic bed side manner, asks questions and listens and took his time. I have been trying to get answers and he was thorough and fantastic. Our medical treatment in Canada would be first rate if all doctors were like this one! Thank you Dr.Fowlis!

DR. Fowlis is excellent at explaining the results of stress tests in a clear manner. His nurse/assistant is also excellent in preparation for the test, and for her empathy.

Excellent Doctor. My son had a stroke in June 2012 and Dr. Fowlis assessed him very quickly at Grand River Hospital and provided TPA clot buster and had a miraculous recovery. He is very kind, caring and professional. He saved my sons life!

I have had heart disease for over 40 years (first diagnosed age 17). Dr. Fowlis has guided me through more than 25 of those years. He does not just provide treatment he provides patient care.
