Dr. Young is one of my personal heroes. He has saved my life numerous times and I will remain grateful to him always. Doctors like him should never be allowed to retire - although, I can think of no one more deserving of a happy retirement.

I met Dr. Young in 1990, at first him seemed very intimidating. But very knowledgeable. He did a big surgery on my esophagus in 1990 and again in 1991 and I continued to see him throughout the years. He tried to help me in so many ways. Over the years he just seemed like someone who liked to have a bit of fun but was also serious about your health. I always loved seeing which tie he would have on at each visit. Once you get to know him I hope you come to love and cherish his knowledge and the care he has for each patient, as I have. He is in my thoughts many days, I wish him all the best.

By far an amazing Dr. I would recommend Dr Young to a loved one. Made me feel like I was important and not just a number. My surgery went even better than I ever expected. My hero!

My experience with Dr. young and his office has been very positive. I was diagnosed with medullary thyroid cancer and had my surgery done a few months after diagnosis. All instructions post op were informative and follow up visits were timely. I was impressed to be offered Dr Young’s cell phone number should I need in an emergency.
Dr. Young’s office is easily reached and inquires are answered in a timely manner, sometimes, Dr. Young would call and speak directly or leave a message.
I very much appreciated all that he had done for me as a surgeon, likely saving my life. When he retires Hamilton will lose a very competent and skilled surgeon.

I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last year and I met with Dr. Young in the summer. I was nervous to see him, and he may come across as not considering your feelings, or he may be abrupt, but he is a straight forward doctor with knowledge. I did find my first appointment with him a little shaky on my part because I was so nervous but he did understand. My next few appointments with him after that went well, he was very sweet, always asked if there were any other questions, looked right at me when I was talking and went through my CAT scan with me. He wants to make sure you are comfortable. He can come across as casual, but I think that is his sense of humour and plus he has been doing this for decades. Of course it’s hard being told that you have cancer, but his main focus is to get the cancer out of you. He met me on the morning of my surgery in a very comforting manner and said ‘Hey girl, finally got you in here’. When they wheeled me down, Dr. Young and his staff then placed me on the operating table and he was gentle and put me at ease. My heart rate was pounding and when the nurse put the mask on me, he must have seen how much more nervous I got and he gently said ‘Don’t worry, it’s just oxygen. It won’t make you sleep.’ He announces who you are to his staff and says what kind of surgery you will be having in the operating room minutes before you go to sleep. All I remember is him saying ‘Okay, here comes the magic stuff,’ and I was out. I woke up about 30 minutes later with no pain, just a very groggy voice from the breathing tube. I was able to swallow and breathe fine. The scar is healing nicely. I liked him a lot, and I heard he is retiring soon. I think he did many good things while he was a doctor.

Dr. Young did a complete thyroidectomy with a full neck disection on January 25th 1990. I'm alive today due to Dr. Youngs exceptional talents as a surgeon. 29 years later I thank Dr. Young everyday for saving my life. I've heard Dr. Young is going to retire. I wish him all the best in a well deserved retirement. What a great loss to the medical profession.

Dr. Young performed a very complicated surgery on me in 2009, an esophagectomy and partial gastrectomy. I found him to be exceptional in all areas of care. A very competent surgeon and easy to communicate with. I owe him my life and i'm grateful for every day. God Bless him.
