My mother saw dr. Covens for a hysterectomy. He was the only doctor on the floor who didnt come to follow up in person with his patients. We wemt home without ever speaking to or meeting the man who removed her uterus. She recieved radiation after her surgery. Beyond that there was no follow up conversation, no follow up scans or tests afterwards to see if the cancer was gone. One year after her surgery, with no follow up, they found the cancer spread to her liver, lungs and adrenal glands. When we had our "virtual appointment" with dr. Covens to see how long we had left with our mom, this man did not even have the decency to look at her scans before our appointment. Imagine waiting to talk to a doctor to find out how much time you had left on this earth and he starts the phonecall by saying "give me a second to look at your scans." Disgusting. She died 9 days after that phonecall. Dr. Covens should not even be called a doctor. He should not have a license to practice medicine. You should be ashamed of yourself for the lack of care you provide to people who put their lives in your hands. If you or a loved one want to beat cancer, steer clear of Alan Covens. He will send you to an early grave. If i could rate 0 stars, i would.

Was referred for cervical cancer and was told of his skill and brilliance but overall I hated going to him and dreaded every visit. I'm sure he is a book-smart man but his treatment of patients is atrocious and, as someone else mentioned, I'm pretty sure he gets his interns to actually do the surgeries and bulk of the work with minimal supervision. I was finally discharged from his care after a few years of follow-up and I was very relieved. Hope to never see him again.

After reading all of the reviews about Dr. Covens, I was SO nervous to have my hysteroscopy with him. Honestly, it went great. The only part that could have gone better was the wait...I waited 2 hours after my scheduled appointment time before my procedure actually happened. Slightly annoying, but really not the end of the world. Dr. Covens was nice, I felt at ease with him. He explained everything he was doing, and afterwards discussed his initial findings with me. The procedure itself wasn't too bad- the local anesthesia helped a lot and the only real pain I felt was when he did the biopsy (but even that was a manageable amount of pain).
You are in good hands with Dr. Covens. Don't let any of the negative reviews deter you. He is an excellent doctor and human.

Dr. Covens was extremely rushed when performing my coloscopy exam. He brought a student into the examination room without bothering to introduce the student or ask if I felt comfortable with the man watching as both of them did my exam. He then proceeded to perform a cervical biopsy, without explaining the procedure, reasons for the procedure, or after care. It was so painful and when I told him I drove to Sunnybrook to get this procedure done he said "You will live". This man does not deserve to be a doctor, he's so arrogant. I decided not to get him to do my surgery and that was a good decision.

I walked into see Dr Covens June 1999. I was 29 yrs old Just had an awful experience at Princess Margret with a Dr who made me wait 5 yes 5 hrs & showed up with 15 students in tow Did not even ask me! Dr Covens was awesome! He gave me his pager- it was 1999. His treatment was fantastic! My surgery was Aug 5,1999. 20 yrs later in my 50's & still rockin life. I did not need a therapist nor did I need someone to treat me like a piece of fragile glass. No way would I allow anyone else to treat me. Thank you sir. You are Amazing!

Dr. Covens performed excellent surgery on me this summer. I was diagnosed with cancer when I was 38 weeks pregnant. Most of the doctors would've rushed to c-section and further surgery, but he explored all options, let me to deliver my baby spontaneously (as I wanted), let me to heal and then we had a surgery. For sure he may seem detached from patients, but that seems normal to me, considering he must deal with life-threatening disease. He was nothing but super patient, answering my endless questions. He saved my life & I am very grateful to him!

Dr. Covens is a doctor who gets right to the point. This is what I like. I wanted answers about my diagnosis and he was able the give them to me. He is very knowledgeable. As well, during my surgery he was fast and thorough. I would definitely recommend him.
