I have been visiting this hospital for last about more than 7 years for my 14 years old daughter. this hospital had given me so much with a lot of respect but their psychiatry department once made our life a big mess....such an arrogant racist and insensitive psychiatrist, i was just shocked though she was holding a lot of certificates in her room!!!! Anyway i found the stuff in few department are very relaxed about their job they are more busy about socializing...and unfortunately I observed that several times. Sickkids has a lot of waiting period in terms of getting appointments as well as on the hospital too. Sickkids should pay attention while they hire people in the reg dept specially because people comes from diverse background and it helps when they get a nice welcoming environment and obviously being a bit patient to deal with the families.
I'm giving a low rating due to my experience there over 4 years ago. I had given birth weeks early unexpectedly and was exhausted, running on very little sleep. The doc from sick kids that showed up immediately told me, without anything else, was that my child showed soft signs of downs. Tests were done and results were not shared with me until i repeatedly called. You'd think that if a parent showed that much concern, the results would be relayed immediately. it seems they were disappointed my child was "normal" and didn't give a a flying f about telling me. But now they have a slew of other concerned and am now forced to repeatedly go back to them for all sorts of tests, including giving a 12 month old an MRI. It all ended up being a grand fishing expedition at the tax payers expense. Even when I asked that we be released from their barrage of tests, I still receive yearly appointment notices. Get your act together. Stop treating people like they are a way to keep your funding. It's disgusting and a waste of my time and yours. Also, make your doctors learn how to speak to people because as is, they suck as humans.
Dr jennifer russell pediatric cardiologist has terrible bed side manners. I had the worst experience at this hospital because of that nasty and disrespectful dr. To make matters worse, when she was reported...the hospital just basically said " thats how she is to everyone"
This hospital saved my son life from bacterial meningitis which is extremely serious and potentially life ending or altering, especially considering the age of my son at the time which was 1.5 yes old. Thanks to the decisive actions of the ER doc and the quality care of all the MDs and nurses he was well taken care of. The nurses were phenomenal and kept us well informed. Our stay was welcoming and comforting considering the circumstances. You don't ever want to have to be in the hospital, especially for children but if you are this is the place to be. I cannot speak highly enough. Blessed and fortunate to have them here in Toronto.
My 11 year old daughter never had to be restrained and given sedatives before we went to Sick Kids emergency for help related to autism. All they did was torturing her, they didn't let her use the washroom, they kept her tied to the bed, and gave her sedatives 4 times within 12 hours. No water, no food . They discharged her 11 am telling us there is nothing else they can do, but because my daughter wasn't able to leave, she was sedated and in distress they used their security personnel to force my 11 year old out of the building, once we were outside, they called the police to pick us up around 6pm. The police tried to get us to CAMH, they didn't have services for kids, so we ended up at St Joseph hospital . At St Joseph's the psychiatrist was more understanding, we were able to calm down my daughter and go home, thanks Dr Ahmed. Sick Kids hospital offered no solution, they only escalated the problem, terrible experience. Do not take your autistic child there.
I'm so disappointed to see all the poor reviews on this hospital. My family practically lived in this hospital for 4 months while my little sister was suffering with a rare autoimmune brain disease. They've saved her life, along the way, yes I've met a nurse who seemed to be having a bad day, but I've also met probably 100 that were so thoughtful, caring, hard-working & smart. I absolutely love sick kids hospital. Amazing staff, including maintenance staff, who made it easier for us to get some sleep by turning some lights off in the ICU waiting room.
