Dr. Lichtenwald told me twice that he thought I had Lupus and at one point told me not to return because he couldn't help me further. He had treated my disease without success. I then, went on to see another Dermatologist who immediately diagnosed my disease and went on to successfully treat it. I was left with permanent patchy bald spots so I went for hair transplants. The transplant doctor needed a report from Dr. Lichtenwald. Reading the report, I was shocked that Dr. L had diagnosed my disease, but never let me know what it was- wasn't Lupus. I was also shocked to see that he had written that my disease was under control. There was absolutely no improvement when I left his care. My scalp was sore, itchy, had puss-filled pours and continued hair loss along scaring

After seeing another doctor for two years Dr. Lichtenwald was able to get my problem under control in two months. He was able to explain the condition so now I understand it and what is needed to control it so I will not have to feel bad about going out in public. A man of few words but a man of immense knowledge. Thank you.

Dismissive, arrogant, insulting, & totally unhelpful. He made snap judgments of me when he first saw me many years ago & refused to treat me years ago saying I was a picker! I had chicken pox at a late age in life, which caused some scarring, but he would not listen & still insisted I was "a picker" & he offered no help. I left in tears. Years later when the issue became worse & I still had no diagnosis, he was the only derm. avail. in the city, so I was sent to him again. Again he labelled & blamed me for what he said was my terrible skin, insisting again (though he didn't remember me) that I was "a picker" though I was not, & he even wrote falsehoods about my medical history into referral letters for radiologists that showed he thinks I am a liar about being "a picker" & claiming I had a long history of bad acne, despite my telling him repeatedly that I have no history of acne, just the odd pimple, until this weird new undiagnosed condition, that was very localized. I felt totally judged for not having perfect skin, felt like he was disgusted to touch me, & he was always totally insensitive to the emotional & quality of life impacts of my condition, which he actually made worse in the time I saw him. When I got another referral from a GP, I couldn't believe the difference with another specialist! I was treated with respect, not called names or blamed, & was offered a treatment that has all but resolved part of my health issue, a treatment he never even mentioned in over a year! Had he helped my condition, I could have forgiven his rudeness perhaps, but he did nothing to help me & gave me no hope. He gave me topicals, some of which were expired samples, & he knew that at the time, & all of them either did nothing or made me worse. One was an antibiotic that you're not supposed to take for the long run, & that you're supposed to stop if it doesn't help after so many weeks, up to a few months. Old dog, no tricks. I know an elderly man that loved this guy, but I am not an elderly man & it was 180 degrees different for me. Time for retirement, IMO.

Doc Litchenwald saved my life by being proactive.. had a mole that didnt look like cancer but he took a sample and scheduled me to get it taken out anyways. The sample came back negative but got it removed anyays ... 6 months later after going to Saskatoon, Calgary and all the way to California, it comes back positive for melanoma. So I have to go back for surgery to check the area to see if the cancer is still there and to see if it had moved to my organs. Luckily we took it out early and it had spread but just microscopic to one lymph node. So had he waited any longer who knows what would of happened...Thanks Dr Litchenwald

Go Dr. Lichtenwald! He's so knowledgeable and was able to explain things to me simply. I had been on a certain med for 2 mnths prescribed by another dermatologist and he informed me that I was being underdosed which affirmed my own thoughts and feelings. I felt heard and seen. Would definitely recommend him! :)

The Doc knows his stuff but his staff is rude, has no issues telling you that you were wrong about something that actually happend, By far the hardest doctor to get a hold of let alone get into see him. Only open a whole 3 days a week and will do absolutely nothing to go out of his way to help you out.
