Was incapable of diagnosing my injury correctly. Several other knowledgeable Doctors have performed a correct diagnosis. In my personal experience, her bedside manners are dismissful, unkind & rude. She is not a capable listener. If you are seeking an IME, you are wasting your personal $$$$$.

Thanks to this rude , racist person I am fighting for my wcb. She asked questions that had nothing to do with my injury. Started talking in her own language when recording things about me.
I do believe she lied about me to wcb but gets a hefty wage from them.
Request a different doctor if possible.

My experience with Dr.maryan-Apel,this woman is racist and rude.she horrible.?I have never seen a doctor like her before.this damage the image of really good doctor.

The ratings frightened me but I found Dr Apel very knowledgeable and thorough. I wouldn’t call her warm and fuzzy but she knows her stuff and I can get fuzzies in a more appropriate place. She is direct in her questioning which I also appreciate, she fully thoroughly examined me. I’m not trying to pull the wool over anyone’s eyes she knows when someone is as she has numerous ways of checking. She does a good job and I just say be straight and honest and there is nothing to concern yourself with. She’s not meant to be a patients Buddy

Dr. Apel is the worst Doctor I've ever encountered. She is rude, arrogant, abuses the system by lying. Gets paid by insurance and WCB to put the client in a negative light. I hope someday she gets hers....she's made my life miserable. Believe the reviews we are not all wrong.

I don't think the reviews are quite fair. Yes, it throws you off with her direct questioning and challenging you when you do answer what she is specifically asking. Judging by her accent her perceived rudeness could be a cultural thing otherwise she is not there to be your friend, she is your physical assessment doctor. Straight forward and to the point. I found her extremely knowledgable and thorough and when she challenged some of my experiences with treatment and my memory, that is her job. The is how she gets her information, she seems to be quite a factual doctor. The appointment was completed right on time and the front of house staff were really friendly.

She's horrific. Totally understand why insurance companies send you here to get assessments done. She basically works for the insurance companies and writes reports in their favor (absolutely not an objective third party). Guess they are the ones paying the big bucks not the Alberta Health Care.
