I was in a car accident when I was 23 weeks & 6 days pregnant. Unfortunately, I went into labour only hours after the accident. I was admitted into the royal Alex hospital immediately, treated by very nice obstetricians, given medications to slow the labor & steroids for my son's lung development. When I was 9 cms dilated, I was introduced to Dr. Mayo. He was rude & miserable. He actually said to me "we are just going to deliver him - he isn't going to make it" so he refused to do a c-section against the recommendations of all the specialists I had seen prior. My son was born 1 lb & 4 ounces. He is now 19 months old. He has cerebral palsy. I am told that is from delivery. Dr mayo was rude, careless & sloppy. He needs to realize his is not god & decides who lives and who dies.

I came to Dr.Mayo after trying to conceive for three years as a high risk pregnancy. Dr.Mayo is a godsend. He has a very calm presence about him and put me at ease right away. I had a few concerns through my pregnancy however he always fully explained what was happening and what the treatment or outcome was going to be. His staff at the front are not necessarily the friendliest however his nurse and ultrasound tech are fantastic. His office also has a ultrasound machine in house, so if there is any issue or complication he wants to investigate it can be done in a matter of minutes. Although not present for our childs birth ( he was born in the middle of the night)Dr.Mayo did come and see us in the hospital first thing the next day. Lastly I would also like to add that if anyone is ever upset because their appointment is not on time please consider that it may be you that he is needed for that extra time or emergency care that requires his attention. Highly recommended!

After finding out that my babies heart beat stopped beating and needing to go for a D&C he was very willing to take me in immediately to get it done even though i wasnt an extreme emergency. I am so happy that he was able to complete my surgery. I didnt have to wait very long once they brought me in to the hospital and his staff at his office was great. They called me to make sure i knew when and where to go. they then called my cell a little while later to make sure that i made i to the hospital no problem and if i had any questions before surgery. I called the next morning after surgery to book my follow up and they were great and booked me in no problem and right at the 6 week mark. Dr. Mayo was great just before surgery, he came in and was very compassionate and made sure that i knew exactly what was going on, why they were doing the d&C and asked if i had any questions before surgery started. I woke up from surgery and had no complications and am so happy that i had him.

I've been seeing Dr. May for over 15 years now. He has always taken the best care for myself. Recently, I was diagnosed by him with a condition in which I had to receive urgent surgery. I am in recovery and have all the confidence in him. He has reassured me when I've been in doubt, always had a kind word for my family (has always remembered them) and if I could possibly refer him to other women, I do. He has treated me for pre-cancer on my cervix, delivered one of my 2 children (was there for the birth and throughout the pregnancy) and now as a woman who had to have the next stage presented early I can honestly say, he has and always will have my complete trust and faith. After each stage in my life to date, he has been there from the moment of diagnosis to following up and keeping his word.

Dr Mayo may not seem to be as friendly or outgoing as some doctors but he saved my little girls life by arranging and performing a procedure that had only been done once before in Edmonton. He is the BEST doctor you could ever ask for. Trust me when I say that the wait time and the indifferent receptionists are definitely worth overlooking to have the peace of mind that your doctor is the most knowledgeable and well practiced OBGYN in this city. Dr Mayo is really a miracle worker and deserves all the recognition in the world for the amazing life saving procedures he performs on a regular basis. He specializes in high risk pregnancies and it really shows!

Dr Mayo is not my doctor, but saved my life with an emergency D&C at Sturgeon Hospital. I was having a miscarriage at 11 weeks pregnant with severe hemmoraging. Dr Mayo was on call and after beginning to crash I was in OR within 15 minutes having surgery. Thank goodness the nurse in emergency was persistent with the Dr in emergency to get Dr Mayo in pronto to look at me. If he hadn't of done the surgery I wouldn't be here today. It was a scary recovery, with blood transfusions and several hours before OR recovery would even let them transfer me. He checked up on me and made sure I was stable before leaving at 1am. I'm happy to be at home and can't thank him enough. :o)

I was very fortunate that Dr.Mayo had performed my emergency DNC, otherwise I probably wouldn`t have him as my OBGYN. He is an amazing doctor and was very encouraging and very thorough with all pregnancies and miscarriages. I would wait 3 hours to see him, it is totally worth it. He is the best OBGYN, and very compassionate. Thanks

Dr. Mayo was my obgyn. I delilvered on June 8th. He is an excellent doctor. Years of experiance especially in high risk deliveries.I never felt rushed while we had our appointments and he always asked if there is anything that he can answer further. He came to see me in the hospital when I was admitted and visited 2 times during my labour period before I was ready to deliver. I wanted to have a natural delivery and he was very supporitve of this. Although I had an easy pregnancy and delivery went smooth there were complication after the baby came out and I started losing a lot of blood as the placent would not detach and come out. He was very quick and acted on the emergency flawlessly. I would highly recomend this doctor. He took great care of myself and is highly respected withhin the hospital staff. I deliverd at Sturgeon.

Note his receptionist are not nice at all. You get better treatment if you are Spanish. I had 6 miscarages and kept asking to have a D and C and he kept trying to persuade me not to, but when I said isn't it my leagle right he finally did a D and C, and now I finally have my baby.
