I thought that I should put a few words here since I did see Dr. Sloka a couple of weeks ago and it was for a follow up appt. after being in the hospital for a few days. I normally go to my appts alone, but this time my husband came along so he could listen if there was anything he needed to remember or hear, in case I didn't catch it all. While waiting on Dr. Sloka, we were reading all the medical information on the wall related to Neurology and any medical info that we might like to learn. My husband did happen to see the little note on the bulletin board that indicated that Dr. Sloka was not allowed to be in the office at any time alone with a patient. He mentioned it to me, and of course, it crosses our minds as to why it is there and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand why that is there. I just want to say that we try to keep an open mind about everything, and at that time, we were there to find out about why I was in the hospital and what my test results were. I also want to say that I am not in any way trying to negate the charges that exist. I must add that I was sexually attacked in a horrible way a few years ago so dont condone anything in that way, but I also know that many people are charged when innocent, so I am not passing judgment. and actually felt bad that my husband was in the room as I certainly wasn't there with him (my husband) because I was fearful in any way. Dr. Sloka was a very friendly, calm and gentle man as we spoke. He didn't have any answers for me as my tests hadn't indicated anything they were looking for in said tests, yet I know something happened to bring me to the hospital and yet if tests dont show what they are looking for, all I can do is wait till it happens again unfortunately and see what happens. I just wanted to indicate here that it was a little strange to have a Clinical Nurse come in and sit on the bed there and just keep Dr. Sloka company but I guess if there are charges, there is not much else they can do till there is a trial and a decision is made. I had wished that there was some sort of Neurlogical direction he could have directed me as seeing my family doctor may not be what can help fix the problems I am having in that area., but in no way did Dr. Sloka give any indication or act in any way that anyone has to be uncomfortable in his office about. I totally believe that if he is found guilty of such charges, that he be dealt with and that hopefully mean his license removed, BUT till that time, we have to go along with the Ontario rules and the OMA decisions to keep him employed and working as normally as possible until then. Yes, it is too bad it takes two salaries to see patients in order to keep him working and at the same time making sure patients feel safe, but we don't know if it means that he has to pay for the extra money out of his pay, so again judgment necessary by people. I feel that if Dr. Sloka is found to be innocent of charges, then he has suffered immensely, and if guilty, then no mercy and full punishment is necessary. I also think that at the moment, people who believe they should have been called to be told what is going on as i read here, have some pretty far fetched ideas as there are measures in place to ensure everyone's safety and it can not be easy for Dr. Sloka to arrive to work every day and face people, not have any idea what he will face when he and his nurse walk in that office. If there is anything I would add to this to save any further stress on either patience or Dr. Sloka and staff, it would be that one little note on the bottom of a Bullletin board filled with other items may not be enough. I honestly would not have seen that note if my curious husband hadnt come with me. He walked around the room reading everything..... I simply sat there and didnt see the whole room. Perhaps a note on the door or the table where we sit, would give everyone some fair warning and time to leave, or deal beforehand. It has to be very hard every day on everyone involved. I want to also add that the secretary (office staff) was very friendly to me and we chatted about things on our way to the room Just food for thought as I read comments about them too. I also wasn't there to run down the doctor she works for so if that happens, I cant imagine how going to work every day is easy for anyone in that office at this time. I will end with the fact that if anything, I would have wished that they had given me one more follow up appt to make sure I was doing ok as the truth is that once the note was seen, it is hard to remember al I wanted to ask. and I do not want to experience the same symptoms and end up in the hospital again. For years I saw a neurologist for the severe headaches I would get and it helped. but i moved away. Now I am back as I was before this episode in December.

Having been a patient of Dr. Sloka’s for about 3 years, I can attest to the fact that he is a most caring and compassionate doctor. He has a very calm manner about him, and he is able to answer questions with words that are clear and easily understood. Dr. Sloka has excellent communication with my family doctor, allowing my care to continue seamlessly between follow up appointments.
Dr. Sloka’s office staff members are always friendly and professional when they call with reminders of appointments, or when I phone in with any history changes, or when we are booking future appointments.
I am sorry that Dr. Sloka is the subject of upcoming misconduct hearings, and I wish him well.

Just saw Dr. Sloka today for the second time. Again, very professional and knowledgeable - takes time to listen and answer any questions you have. He does not rush you out of his office. Very calm and professional demeanor and will explain any terms or information that you may need more clarification on. Very compassionate doctor who wants the best for his patients.

Dr. Sloka is the most caring, compassionate , knowledgeable and appropriate doctor I have ever met. My daughter has been a patient for seven years and wouldn’t be standing without him. I have been a victim of abuse and after reading all the allegations, think this is nonsense. I didn’t know not covering someone up was considered assault. If that is true then every doctor I have been to needs to be brought up on charges. Dr. Sloka is amazing and I will say so to the College and the public at every opportunity.
