I was a patient since the first months this clinic opened long before the SE CAMP/Second Chance location, through the fears of potential closure at Braeside, and all the way back to the original downtown location. It is so saddening that you are gone now. I consider you a pillar in our city for all of us that suffered the disease of addiction and mental health issues. It was always a wait to see you, but a worthwhile wait. I have been along for the ride through all of the highs and lows over the years, and I just would never have had it any other way. I have no doubt you have positively influenced countless lives. I wish I had been able to have shaken your hand and to have wished you well before you retired. I speak for many when I say we have lost a truly special doctor. You may be gone but all your efforts and words I assure you will never be forgotten. I hope you search yourself online one day and find these words. I encourage all others who's lives have been saved and/or changed to share words of truth and kindness for Dr. P to find one day. Words just cannot express the incredible difference your service as a psychiatrist and addictions specialist have made. Sincerely, THANK YOU DR. P.

Why did you have to leave???!!!! Come back Dr. P, it’s so freakin awful without you! The new staff are horrible! What is wrong with them why are they firing everyone that made the clinic so good and so helpful??!??!?? I miss all the John Deere decorations in your office! It’s so empty and bleak and stark without you!!! You were the best doctor I’ve ever had! You saved my life! Please come back or start another clinic!!! I don’t care that sometimes in the end wait timed were longer it was worth it for the quality of care!! Please let us all know if you come back again!!!

I was referred to Dr. P through friends almost 8 years ago, and while some of us weren’t able to “break free” from the grips of addiction, I was. And I’m so very appreciative for 8 years of support, compassion, and understanding. I have to imagine with your 40 years of commitment that you’ve saved hundreds if not thousands of lives... I only hope that since you have retired that in time someone will be able to fill the incredibly large shoes you’ve left to be filled in your departure. Please take care of yourself!!!

Unfortunately I have recently learned that Dr. Postnikoff had retired. To say the least I am devastated! When I first met Dr. P my life was in shambles. He spent extensive time working with me to identify where my problems were stemming from and we worked out a plan both through medication and therapy. I could not have recommended a better doctor and I am ashamed that I did not write a review sooner! In recent years things had changed but not with Dr. P himself but rather with the owners of the clinic. While some of the staff stayed on it seems like they overhauled it and it was taken over by greedy owners that were out for the most money and control possible over patients denying them the freedom to attend their own pharmacy and pushing unnecessary repeat appointments. What was so great when it was just Dr. P and his wife was completely lost to people that I’m not even sure had any medical experience much less scruples. I know Dr. P did his best with what he could being constantly bogged down by excessive bookings and no doubt pressure from the new owners. I hope you find peace in retirement, Dr. P! Thank you for so many years of wonderful support and helping me get my life back on track! To all the original staff from 2+ years ago I want to thank you as well. My review is for Dr. P and the former clinic. I made the choice not to stay with the new clinic and their ever changing line-up of doctors that make one appearance and quit again!

A lot of people tend to be quick to judge, mothers angry to learn their children were closet addicts, partners confused that their partner cannot just get off their substitute medication, and what they don’t understand is that this is a multi-year process for those to have had the misfortune of becoming addicted to fentanyl, heroin, etc. It can take years to break an addiction and even longer to receive the proper treatment in terms of ongoing therapy. It is a rare opportunity to have a psychiatrist working in an addiction practice providing an all in one solution. What I can say to this is that it was a blessing to be able to have this doctor as a doctor for nearly a decade in my life.

To the haters, judgers, and angry patients that had to be removed from the program, this is through only your own choices, the choices of your teen/partner/spouse, your inability to understand the programs requirements, to understand addiction, or to be prepared to be committed to freeing yourself from addiction; further to this, get the facts straight... This doctor has never lost his licence for any reason, never been on methadone himself, and has to follow such a strict set of guidelines to be able to help and save the thousands of lives he has saved (including mine) and everyday has to deal with an incredibly hard job to do that not near enough people are doing. The alternative is frightening.

It really is appalling that anyone can just post anything on this website, potentially jeopardizing a son’s treatment, a spouse’s treatment, potentially saving a life through strinking unreasonable fear and concern in the minds of those that don’t suffer addiction but that have someone close to them who does. And I really am disappointed that more people didn’t step up to share their stories of success like mine. I guess it doesn’t matter anymore since he has now moved on and we’ve all lost someone that saved thousands of lives over decades of work.

The ONLY negative thing I have to say is the staff can be helpful one day and mess with your appointment time the next.

As for Dr. P himself, he is a great great methadone doctor! He knows his stuff both chemically and mental (being a psychiatrist as wel). He has everything to help you.

TO THOSE WITH NEGATIVE COMMENTS TOWARDS DR. P; Listen to what you are saying . "My son/daughter is addicted/dependant to methadone and it's all Dr. Ps fault!" . Dr. P supplies the medication and direction . It's up to the ADDICT to take it properally, not his! You can go down on your methadone dose as slowly and as SMALL of a dose change as YOU want! You being the addict. You have to want it and it's work it's not suppose to be an easy way out! If there was an easy way out ANYWHERE everyone would do drugs! Take responsibility for your own actions and choices and make better ones! It's not suppose to be easy... the methadone was a god sent for me as the withdrawals of cold turkey or detox were not Managable and felt like hell on earth. The methadone works if you follow the directions and if you know it's. it going to feel great all the time, but no where NEAR the intensity of cold turkey or detox withdrawals.

Dr. P listens to what you want to do, but I also love his no nonsense approach. Piss dirty, you're in trouble. Just follow step by step his plan for you, and he isn't against adding in medications to help with the minor withdrawals of weaning off methadone.

Also.. ITS A PRIVATE CLINIC .. that's why you pay and that's why you get service in a matter of a week or 2 as oppose to 2-5 month wait at the FREE METHADONE CLINIC wich complainers may join any time they don't want to pay their $40 a month.

Thank you Dr. P . It's been 1 year on methadone and 1 year of sobriety from Fentanyl . In 1 short year I have gone from a heavy heavy fentanyl user, to 125mgs of methadone, and currently already down to 65 mgs. 1 more year and I'll be free :) I cannot wait and it's all because of Dr. P and Methadone.

(Soboxone is also an option)

Dr. Postnikoff is truly a blessing for his patients. While he takes a no nonsense approach to recovery he is caring sympathetic and empathetic and incredibly knowledgeable on the area of his practice. Without his clinic there would be almost no opportunity for a comfortable, effective recovery.

Without Dr. P there would be almost no opportunity for treatment. I volunteer in addictions and have not found any clinics that will take those who are addicted in a timely fashion. Any clinic that will take fentanyl addicts have waiting lists of 5 months and up. When someone wants to quit, they can't wait 5 month. That is a death sentence. Yes, there are times you have to wait to get in to see the Dr. but addiction is a growth industry and Dr. P works as hard as he can to help the addicted and sometimes he spends more time with a client and this sets back other's appointment time. Same happens in every doctor's office. Try going to the hospital and getting prompt service! Yes there is a $40 dollar monthly fee, this is needed to help keep the clinic open. Before you start complaining about this fee, research how recovery clinics are financed. There is no magic money machine that clinic staff can go to to get operating capital for keeping the doors open. Dr. P is not doing this for the money, he does it to help the addicted and to help those who can't help themselves. My advice to those who are not satisfied with Dr. P's services, go else where and be kind enough to let us all know where that is. Thank you Dr. Podnikoss and staff for saving the life of the woman I advocate for and all the other people I have med at the clinic. My friend would be dead now if it were not for Second Chance. God bless you all. Big T
