I came across Dr. Koehle when looking for a sports med doctor, and with his help ended up being able to see him at ubc sports med. It’s been more than 2 years so far with regular contact, and he’s consistently been a solid presence in helping me get me back to moving at the capacity I want. Doing investigations when needed and referring me to other help within sports med when needed.

I put 4 stars for knowledge in a very positive way- in that he doesn’t assume he knows everything, even though he’s very knowledgeable!

Open-minded, while also taking things seriously.

Dr. Koehle is without a doubt one of the finest doctors who has attended to my health. I have visited him over the past 3 to 4 years and he is always punctual, takes time to listen to my problems and deals with them in a systematic and complete manner. He is a very knowledgeable, caring and kind doctor. He thinks like a GP and doesn't just focus on his specialty, I wish he was my GP as he is so easy to talk to and listens to all problems.

I saw Dr Koehle about chronic pain and severe headaches I have suffered from following a gymnastics head/neck injury as a child. As a sports medicine specialist I expected him to be able to provide some insight. He ordered and MRI and since it was normal he assumed there was nothings wrong and basically told me it was in my head. He told me to go work out at the gym and wrote down a few exercises. He failed to take note of all of the symptoms of cervicogenic headaches caused by a neck injury such as (1) one-sided pain in base of skull, behind the eye, referring down shoulder blades, accompanied by nausea and vomiting. (2) Weakness in the deep neck flexors and increased activity in the superficial flexors, (3) over-use of large muscles in the neck and shoulders. By the way, doing weight lifting and exercises with muscles imbalances and dysfunction only reinforces those imbalances and causes more pain. What's needed is therapy to heal the cervical spine and stabilizing exercises to re-train the muscles to move properly and maintain good posture.

I was indeed very lucky that I was able to see Dr. Koehle - Sport Medicine Specialist and able to have MRI done. After seven years of chronic pain on my elbows and wrists, I finally know the cause of my pain. In addition, his referral to the Change Pain clinic – Empowerment program has really helped me to manage my pain with positive attitudes and awareness in my daily routines . During my visits, he always listens to me carefully, patiently and monitoring my progress with the therapists to ensure my well being . Dr. Koehle’s attentive care, understanding, friendliness, listening, kindness, helpfulness, support and encouragement have really eased my anxiety, worries and stress tremendously. I am very blessed to have him as my doctor, without his care, I probably will have a mental break down already.

Dr. Koehle is everything you could ask for in a sports doctor and then some. He has no limits. I wish he was my GP. He has treated me for a variety of sports related injuries yet takes a wholistic approach recognizing other aspects of my overall health play into my injuries. He actually cares.

Dr Koehle saw me on many occasions for knee/shoulder/hip injuries. Rarely have I seen such a warm, compassionate, knowledgeable doctor.
