I saw Dr Mark Rowe for a period of about a year around 2016. During our first session he opted to put me onto a new type of medication that really works for my depression and that I am still on to this day.
Throughout the rest of our sessions he talked about a possum that lived in his roof, his clogged toilet, and when it came time to talk about my problems and what I actually wanted help with he said 'I don't think that's a problem' and proceeded to talk about something else. I straight up told him- sometimes several times a session- that something was negatively affecting my life in a serious way and I wanted to focus on that (hence my reason for seeing him) but even when told directly he still didn't get it.
He may have won big on his first try playing medication roulette, but everything else was a frustrating waste of my time, money and energy. I just hope he managed to get a real good plumber with all fees he charged me so he could finally unclog that toilet.

In Dr. Rowe, I finally found a genuine and personable psychiatrist. He truly sat and listened - actually gave me excellent therapy - rather than only focus on my medications. I strongly recommend Dr Rowe, many a time I felt like he was the only one who could hear me. Thank you.

Staff can be very unwelcoming and cranky - been like this for years sadly!

Dr Mark Rowe has certainly been the best psychiatrist I've seen. He took the time to talk to me and do his own careful diagnosis to ensure he agreed with others. He combines both psychiatry and psychology, something few other psychiatrists seem to do, making sure he understands the whole problem. He told me where medication would help and where it probably wouldn't. And the medication he gave me was the most effective I had ever had. He's fun to talk to, and he really seems to know his stuff. I'm confused by some of the negative reviews as they sound the exact opposite of the psychiatrist I saw.

I was diagnosed with Bipolar II by Dr Rowe and prescribed heavy medication after a single consultation with him. When the medication had serious side effects on me he claimed he had never heard of any of these very common side effects but that i should nevertheless stop taking the drugs immediately. He also couldn't even recall prescribing it to me pr meeting with me just two weeks earlier.

He then proceeded to read me a story and spend the next hour convincing me that i was definitely and obviously suffering from Bipolar II and the importance that I take medication.

He then insisted that there was nothing i could do other than take medication because my condition was 'chemical'. But if I chose to do so that I could wait for an inevitable manic episode to occur or worse attempt to take my own life again and then come back and see him. As you can imagine after hearing these two horrible prospects; take an awful medication that i could not function on and felt severely anxious and suicidal or live my life in fear that i will hurt myself or others, I felt completely hopeless.

Luckily I knew something wasn't right and i stopped seeing Dr Rowe and taking the drugs. After surviving some months in a state of severe anxiety and fear I finally worked up the courage to seek an alternate opinion.

I met with a wonderful woman who instead of immediately diagnosing me with some condition that the DSM 5 told her could be easily fixed with medication asked me about my experiences in the past year prior to attempting suicide.

She instead quickly found that a traumatic event had had a huge impact on me and that i was never suffering from BBPD. Instead I was experiencing the symptoms common to complex PTSD and didn't need any medication at all.

I'm so grateful to the wonderful therapist who helped me and my family who supported me in my decision from walking away from a careless misdiagnosis from a Dr merely concerned with quick fixes.

I have not experienced any mania or depression since meeting with Rowe mid last year so can safely say he was wrong.

I do however have to live with the trauma he gave me everyday when a voice in my head tells me if i feel happy i must be manic and must not talk to anyone and isolate myself from everybody immediately

I urge anyone sceptical of any of the advice Rowe has given you to listen to your gut and seek alternate advice from a therapist and not a psychiatrist. I also would not recommend anybody to go and see this Dr because he may leave you with more scars than he heals.

I have seen Dr Rowe for many years for depression. He is incredibly kind and patient, using drugs and talking therapy to fully support you in your recovery journey. He's literally saved my life.
I've had issues with the front desk staff a couple times over the years, but nothing of any real concern.

I found out Dr Rowe spoke with his staff members, colleagues, and friends about private matters discussed in our sessions. He seems nice, but I did not find him to be a trustworthy guy.

I have just started seeing Dr Rowe as i was recommended by my local doctor who said he was one of the best in Australia for my illness and after 3 consultations i can fully see why . I first thought my local doctor might have been an acquaintance of his but that was not the case , he had been at many lectures and seminars that Dr Rowe had conducted all over Australia and came to his own conclusion. Dr Rowe is a leader in bipolar disorders and is highly sought after as i found taking me a little while to just get to see him . He knows his stuff . he is very easy to talk to . his gentle no nonsense approach really appealed to me , I like him alot.he has helped me greatly and i can recommend him to anyone that needs to see a absolute professional psychiatrist in his field
