Dr Hammers did an amazing job with my surgery. He did a great job of explaining my options and was very patient when answering my questions. Once we agreed on the surgical path, he walked me through the strategy. The surgery went great and my pain was gone that afternoon. Because he executed the surgery so well, my recovery was easy and fast. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr Hammers for anyone with nerve problems.

I was referred to this Dr. Hammers from another doctor in the same practice who was retiring. He said that Dr Hammers could do a minor incision to give me relief for my back pain. When I went see him, he was rude and short tempered and asked what I was there for. When I told him that the retiring doctor referred him to me and had made the appointment. He was extremely irritated. He just belittled me and said I was coping and he would only do spinal fusion. He needs anger management!

I had an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion in Dec 2018 with Dr Hammers. From the initial appointment onward, I have been extremely pleased with my care. His nursing and office staff are efficient, very knowledgeable and pleasant. I am thankful for Jill Saylor, Nurse Practitioner whose evaluation and instructions got me on the right track. Dr Hammers is personable and takes all concerns and questions seriously and answers in an understandable manner. He did not push for me to have surgery but explained what would probably be the outcome if I chose not to have surgery. He is precise and highly skilled. Once I decided on having surgery, I asked for us to pray together. He was willing and this gave my husband and I such peace and comfort as I went into surgery. I am quite pleased with the entire experience and am thankful for the care of Dr Hammers and his entire staff.

I saw Dr. Hammers because I had a bulging disc in my back. I was late for my appointment and even though he rightly and jokingly pointed it out he was RIGHT. I should have been on time. He was nonetheless kind, considerate, and professional. He explained everything to me in terms I could understand. He is not one to immediately recommend surgery which I really appreciated. The treatment for my back was an injection from a pain management doctor. It worked like a charm. I will be seeing him again for a cyst and lower back pain. I am sure I will receive the same excellent care I did the first time.

Dr. Hammers did a phenomenal job on my back surgery. I had all the typical fears for having a fusion back surgery. Being surgery I was losing my ability to walk. I can now walk, Dr. Hammers gave me my life back. He is skilled, caring, and his staff is really top notch too. I am thankful I had the surgery done. His staff made the whole experience bearable, and so worth it. I would recommend Dr. Hammers for your back surgery. He's very good at managing a caring attitude and the need to get the job done properly, for our benefit. I even cried in his office when we were talking about the surgery. Who wants to be told they need back surgery?! He said this "this process is one to be respected but not feared" so I likened his comment to the ocean, the ocean needs to respected but you can ride the waves and still come out safe. So I went in there and rode the waves with Dr. Hammers, and I'm safe and sound on the other side. Today, I can play on the floor with my grandkids, and talk walks with my dog. I'm so grateful for his precision.

Dr. Hammers was very direct and specific in making his assessment. He provided a complete review of his conclusions to include my symptoms and my personal feelings and concerns. A most patient and supportive physician - I felt he was truly concerned -- my hopes for the future have been improved significantly.

Dr. Hammers is an excellent surgeon. He took the time to answer every question, even when we had gone over our allotted time. He never made me feel rushed. I had severe nerve pain running down the back of both legs because of a problem with my L4-L5 vertebrae, and I now feel none! I feel like I finally have my life back! Dr. Hammers explained exactly what the issue was and what needed to be done to alleviate the problem in terms that were easy to understand. His office assistant, Jill, is also excellent. She very patiently listened to my added questions, and got right back to me with answers, when I called. Dr. Hammers offered prayer the day of surgery, which I certainly appreciated and found very calming. He was at my bedside when I woke from surgery. He wanted to make sure I was awake and let me know how things had gone. He then went out to talk with my husband personally. He came back to check on me that evening, the next morning, that evening, and the following morning, before I was released. I've seen him for each of my post-op visits, not some P.A. It is rare to find such a humble, skillful surgeon who has a very kind, comforting bedside manner, too! I could not recommend him more!
