I had the same experiences of the other 1 star reviewers. The check in process is a nightmare and unorganized like the rest of the office. His office schedules appointments in groups, so you are checking in with 20 other people and then like cattle you are seen at random. His staff is rude but I really do think they are stressed from disorganization and the constant need to lie to patients about various aspects of the practice. He orders tests but doesn't share results, spends 60 seconds with you, if you are lucky. I was repeatedly fat shamed in his office, by him personally. The staff hates working there but tells you Dr. Unger is a great guy. He values LOYALTY of his staff and his patients. The last visit I attended I was told by staff to seek a new pain management specialist because this was not the place to be.

Dr Unger is a very caring man, he sees you as a person in whole, not just as a patient. You can see his mind working through what you are telling him and his mind is putting the pieces of the puzzle together. Dr Unger saw us as a Neurology patient . My son was having seizures which is very scary! Dr Unger makes us feel secure in that he will do everything he can to help us with my son's seizures

I waited over 1-1/2 hr. to see dr unger. After the long wait, he finally seen meā€¦.for 2 min.!!!
I just have a gut feeling that this dr has it out for me. Because he denied my prescription refill twice now, Iā€™ve been thru ā€œwithdrawalā€ 2 X. Yet he has certificates hanging in his waiting room, stating he is a
ā€œCompassionateā€ dr. I donā€™t know why heā€™d wanna put a 72 yo grams thru such pain & misery. He ruined my Christmas.

I agree with all the negative things written so far. But here's a new one for you. He asked me how old l am. I told him I was 68. He responded "Well, you're an old man and what do you expect. The years have taken their toll and you will just have to live with the pain". I suffer from spinal stenosis and bilateral shoulder tendonitis. I have NEVER heard this from a doctor before. Google his background and all of this will make more sense. DO NOT GO TO HIM FOR EVEN A HANGNAIL!!!!!!!

Iā€™ve been going here for four months now and he still doesnā€™t know whatā€™s wrong with my hand I have taken several unnecessary test and he still doesnā€™t have a clue. The communication sucks! The girls upfront over books everyone, there so many people there sometimes that you either have to stand up or sit on the floor. The process that you have to go through just to see the doctor is ridiculous. Heā€™s not caring enough to be a professional. I would never ever Recommend this doctor to anyone.

Unnecessary testing that you will never know the results of, all they do is suck your money out of your pockets. The girls upfront donā€™t have a clue about anything and they overbook everyone that has an appointment. This experience SUCKED! I would not EVER! Refer him to anyone.

I had to ask the Dr if he treated patients with possible MS. Seemed like the office was full of peopke looking for pain meds, maybe this office only deals with pain? He said arrigantky, I'm a neurologist. It's half and half, pain clinic and neuro. Then asked me why I asked-were patients in the waiting room saying they were in pain!? Before him, Rita or Reba came in but didn't really say what was her purpose. Took a lot of notes about pain, wrote down to discontinue ibuprofen and neurontin since they didn't help mych BUT didn't prescribe anything else. Then Dr does all kinds of testing in the office, doesn't followup with results, has staff make appt for me in Rensalear for more tests, and never writes a refill for neurontin nor even discuss what meds I should be on for my burning numbness and tingling in all 4 extremities, says he needs all previous records first (?!) and more tests before he makes a diagnosis. I could respect his thoroughness IF he would treat my symptoms in the meantime! I was given nothing to alleviate the symptoms! Isn't that part of the expectations when you go see a Dr? Maybe he is double billing for pain eval (so called) by Rita/ Reba and then for his eval. Oh, he did no eval, just took notes and tests in his office. Convenient, maybe lucrative too? Something doesn't add up. NOT Going back!
