Did my homework, if he’s not the best in the WORLD he is one of them!!!!!

I am a recently retired, exuberant 69-years young Black man, of faith; diagnosed with both Prostate and Lung Cancer during this past summer and was given a two-year death sentence, if things went badly. They first found prostate cancer and gave me the “Bum’s rush” to surgically remove my prostate. I was going to do it; Until they next found I had Kidney type renal cancer in nodules in my left lung (hence the death sentence); even though they assured me that I would never have Kidney cancer, when they convinced me to have my left kidney removed in Feb. 2008. Fool me once shame on you / Fooled twice the shame is on me.
After I sent up some “Knee Mail” for divine guidance, I sought a second opinion from Memorial Sloan Kettering, Cancer Center (MSK). I was assigned to Dr. Daniel Shasha. Dr Shasha was not like the burnt out cancer specialist, that given me dreadful news who was “phoning it in”. When I first met Dr Shasha, he sensed my dread and anxiety and was able to put me at ease. He is a kind, compassionate man who immediately instilled a sense of hope in me. He formed a partnership with me dedicated to overcome my Cancer. He consulted with other MSK specialist, and thoroughly evaluated the prior tests and actions done and ordered more tests to better clarify my situation. He has since provided an enlightened and circumspect evaluation and treatment plan for me. . He looked me in my eyes and spelled up my options. I trust his evaluation. He is a consummate professional with a gleam in his eyes that communicates that he is doing what he was put on earth to do. Battling Cancer is his calling. He seems to relish the challenges of treating his patients and helping them to an improved state of health. Excellence in service to his patience seems to be his motivation and objective.

During one of our Q & A evaluations meetings, I told him I was having urination urgency issues, for the past two years, bordering on incontinences. Dr Shasha referred me to a urologist colleague whose treatment resolved the issue completely, in one visit. In my opinion, this makes Dr Shasha truly extraordinary in that he has a sense of humility and collegiality among his peers. His commitment to my wellbeing allowed him to set aside his ego enough to refer me to one of his network colleagues who could help me better than he could. BRAVO Dr. Shasha‼‼! I feel I am fortunate to have such a talented and committed professional working with me to deal with this life threatening disease.

Knowledgeable, compassionate, and very competent doctor. I cannot even think of a better doctor that I've met in my life.

Dr. Daniel Shasha ranks right at the top of my doctors, many of which I consulted over the years. After radiation for prostate cancer in 2004, he became my principal and favorite doctor across the board. He is extremely knowledgeable, personable, quick to define appropriate solutions or treatments, and with a superb manner. 13 years later, I am in fine shape and prospects are excellent. Dr, Shasha also went beyond the usual, making himself and his counsel available at any time. Atlanta is extremely lucky to have him, but I sorely miss him. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Shasha is one of the very best doctors I have ever known. I feel incredibly lucky to have discovered him nine years ago when I was considering various forms of treatment for my prostate cancer. For over an hour he gave me a comprehensive, balanced, and crystal clear assessment of the potential risks and benefits of various possible treatments. Once I opted for radiation therapy, he was with me every step of the way, always ready to answer questions, frank and honest about the risks ahead, but absolutely determined that he and I would prevail over the cancer. And we did. Never once did my morale flag along the way. His depth and range of knowledge and experience, lightning swift intelligence, dedication, and compassion inspired complete confidence and trust, which I believe was half the battle. An extraordinary man and an extraordinary physician. His move to Atlanta is a blessing for that city, but we shall continue to feel his loss here in New York. Edward Doherty

Simply the best! Not only is Dr. Shasha tops in his field, he is also a very caring and compassionate individual. NY's loss is certainly Atlanta's gain!!

Very sorry to see Dr. Shasha leave NYC . I have seen him in follow up appointments every year since he did my surgery four years ago. I wish him the best of luck in Atlanta.

Dr. Shasha is a great doctor. He gave me courage and confidence as I went through perhaps the toughest part of my life. The best of everything to him. He is the best.
