I’ve been a patient of Dr. Cino’s for 5 years, although it feels like much less given how little success I’ve had. For starters, she almost refused to accept my referral because I was “too young” - I had just turned 18 - and she never let me live it down. Every appointment she’d touch my stomach and say “you’re constipated right now”… um yes I know that’s why I’m here. She never took my symptoms seriously and has only ever prescribed me a series of laxatives to give me temporary relief but has never taken the time to try and actually diagnose the problem. She refuses to do a colonoscopy, although judging by the other reviews I’m glad I never had one with her. Most recently, I had a phone appointment with her where she was an hour late and then apologized for being so late as her previous patient had a complicated case. I totally respect that, however she didn’t take more than 10mins with me, prescribing me a medication I’d been prescribed years prior with no success, and saying her assistant would Call to book a 4 week follow up. It’s been 3 months and I haven’t heard anything from her office. The wait times are insane, she always seems to be in a rush and never makes me feel like a priority or that I’m at all important to her. I feel completely defeated with my GI issues and have no idea what to do.

I have been a patient of Dr Cino for many years. She is very through kind and patient with all the questions and concerns brought forward by me.
Her office administrator is very pleasant to speak to and, returns your call as soon as she is able.
I highly recommend Dr Cino, thank you for the care you have provided to me over the years.

Sincerely
Maureen Amodio

I was being treated for a possible blockage in my bile duct. Dr Cino consulted on my case and met with me in Emergency and in the Ward the next day. Dr Cino was very knowledgeable about my history and explained their concerns about possible pancreatitis without alarm. She was engaging, caring, empathetic and full of personality. We talked easily. I would hope to see her again involved with any of my ongoing liver challenges.

In 2019, my mom was diagnosed with gastric cancer. Dr Cino who my mom had seen the year before and did a scope of the stomach and biopsy was the one who told her. However, she told our family almost a year later after the test was done and only because we had asked our family dr to re-refer my mom back to Dr Cino’s office. Only once we were sitting in her office did she open my mom’s file to discover her results. She was surprised and my family was shocked. We went into that appointment thinking she was going to checked again for mild digestion problems. From there she referred us to a by pass gastric surgeon who does not specialize in cancer. I called her and asked her to refer my mom instead to a Dr Brar at Mount Sinai which she did. We spoke once or twice after that and I must say Dr Cino looked scared but she didn’t really apologize from my recollection and if I recall correctly she put the blame on the family for not scheduling a follow up appt with her except we tried. She did proceed to tell us what changes she was going to make in her processes to ensure this didn’t happen again.
This happened in my opinion because she didn’t have adequate administrative support and who wasn’t available to make appts. I also suspect Dr Cino saw the results and forgot to alert us or alter the secretary to alert us. My other suspicion is she never read the report. The reason this occurred wasn’t because of our family not insisting on an appointment. In fact, we were told at the scope visit that everything was fine and the biopsy was only a precaution. And when we did try making several appointments and once dropped by but there was no reception. It was our family who saved my mom’s life by initiating an appointment with our family dr to get another appointment with Dr Cino because of ongoing digestive complaints.
Luckily for my mom, she was still in the early stages of gastric cancer and Dr Brar at Mount Sinai successfully removed the cancer.

To all patients, don’t trust that drs to pay attention to your results. They are super busy and unless you are sitting in front them to read your results don’t trust you are in good care. Ensure you do whatever is necessary to make that follow up appt. and advocate for yourself.

Had a colonoscopy - she was unable to get the scope fully round. I was not properly sedated & it was very painful during & after the procedure. I could hardly walk afterwards. I was seriously ill with Crohns at the time of referral and truthfully, I don’t know how I did not die! Surgeons at Mount Sinai were horrified and angry that it took so long for me to be seen and referred to them. Dr Cino is quirky, but polite. She is very knowledgeable about certain things, but if you are seriously ill/ in pain- please consider going elsewhere as the wait times to get an appointment are unacceptable.
