I had seen Dr. Louis Weatherhead for many years on an annual basis for skin cancer since I had several basel cell spots removed and various areas of concern. I had no complains until my last examination. Dr. Weatherhead treated me in an appallingly rude manner, talking to me with his back to me and saying no need to see him again, find another dermatologist. I was happy to oblige and now have found a very good dermatologist who is professional, thorough and courteous.

Been seeing him for decades! Great Dr all around. I’ll be seeing him again because I have a skin irritation and large itchy sore skin patch. He will have a diagnosis in less than a few seconds.

Excellent doctor who took the time to discuss my concerns. I was seen in a friendly, timely manner in a busy office. Couldn't ask for better!

I am in my late 60s. Through adulthood, I’ve had skin issues due to excessive childhood sun exposure. Dr. Weatherhead has cared for me for more than two decades. I have regular checkup visits and usually require liquid nitrogen treatment to stop developing issues. More serious issues have required a dozen or more surgeries to remove cancerous areas. Dr. Weatherhead is a highly qualified and well experienced practitioner and surgeon. In dialogue with patients, he is matter-of-fact and straightforward, no fluff, and I appreciate that. I find him caring and compassionate. I trust him completely. After dozens of visits, I can testify that Dr. Weatherhead’s practice is extremely busy (for good reason!) and his office operates very efficiently. Dr. Weatherhead is acknowledged as one of the best in his field and Ottawa is lucky to have him. Reviewers’ negative comments about the office receptionist are unwarranted; she is professional and very efficient as required by the heavy office workload.

First time I went for my appointment I waited in the waiting room for a while to be seen, but when I was seen he wasn’t very helpful and knowledgeable about my situation. I ended up having a keloid on my here and I was told it was to be removed and he went over the surgery with me step by step and told me what they would do during and after the surgery. I came back today to have my surgery done and had no wait time at all and got in right when my appointment was scheduled. He was very good at explaining what he was doing and making me feel better about the surgery since I was nervous. During surgery’s he also plays music which really helps calm you down!

This last entry was brought to my attention by a friend. It is very incorrect and misleading. I was a nurse at the Cancer Clinic and worked with Dr Weatherhead. The clinic is a teaching clinic and so patients are first seen by residents and students who then present the case to the staff,Dr. W. The team then goes to the room where the case is presented and the patient examined. The clinic nurse is also present. I always went as I learned a lot. The clinic is busy and so delays happen especially if a surgery is being done in another room. So the patient would not have been seen alone. In all my years at the clinic, I have never seen Dr. W not communicate with his patients. He was the ultimate teacher to the residents and students and nursing staff. He also taught patients about their cancer and things they could do to help prevent getting new lesions and what to look for. Dr W has now left the clinic after more than 30 years service and is missed by all. Dr W was always polite and ALWAYS told patients what examination he needed to do. As such I believe this last entry is incorrect and inappropriate. I would have Dr W look after me in a flash if I had a skin cancer.

I saw dr. W at the hospital for about two years of follow-up after he removed a basal cell carcinoma from my head. I always had to wait an inordinate amount of time in the hospital room. He always sent in an entourage of students who would peruse my naked body for a few minutes, take notes, ask questions and leave. Then I was expected to wait for the dr. to come back and do tne same. On one visit I had left on my underware and knee high socks on. He immediately pulled off my underware and socks without a word and then proceeded to analyze every inch of my body. So highly inappropriate and down right creepy. I never went back after that incident. It still gives me the shivers when I think about it and that was at least 7 years ago. If you're female don't be alone with this guy.

Was recently referred to Dr. Weatherhead about a mole my family doctor thought looked odd. I saw Dr Weatherhead who made a clinical diagnosis of melanoma and that the mole needed to be removed. Of course, I this was not the news I wanted to hear. Dr. W took the time to go over the diagnosis and the details of the surgery and what he expected the result to be. He was very knowledgeable and calming and I left, though very nervous and concerned, feeling confident that I was in good hands. The surgery was done within 2 days. He took the time to explain what to expect after. Dr. W. called me personally as soon as the results were back to give me the information about what was found, that there was no further surgery needed and that my long term was good. He made me feel very relieved. I had my stitches removed in 2 weeks and he took the time to answer all the questions I had, from reading google. I am very happy I was referred to this doctor and know that my care is in good hands. Dr. Weatherhead is very experienced in this field and I feel very lucky.

Had to write this after reading the last comment. Recently saw this doctor. Very busy practice and I had to wait a while. However, during my wait, I observed how each patient was treated. All were treated with respect and the doctor was very cordial to everyone. His greeting to me , at the first visit, was warm and made me feel at ease. Was attentive to my concerns. Diagnosed a skin cancer, which is his special area. Surgery has been booked and a full and realistic explanation of the procedure and all possible risks was given. I feel very comfortable and know that my problem will be dealt with the utmost skill.

Dr. Weatherhead is a kind man, but both times I had appointments I waited over an hour to be seen in the waiting room and then longer in the patient waiting room. Additionally, even though late he engages in conversation with his patients which is sweet but delays your appointment longer. I don’t Want to be in a Dr’s Office for 2+ hours for what should be a 15 minute appointment.
