It is my absolute pleasure to provide my feedback on Dr. Gopaul. From the outset, he was extremely caring, compassionate and most importantly, I felt like an equal participant in my treatment plan.

While Dr. Gopaul made it clear that it was important to start my radiation treatment as soon as possible, he allowed for an open dialogue to discuss my fertility management. Dr. Gopaul and I worked together and agreed to delay my start date by 2 weeks to allow for one cycle of stimulation. He also coordinated my planning CT before my egg retrieval in order to begin radiation treatment the day after my procedure. Finally, I found him to be up to date on the limited literature on the effect of pelvic radiation on egg viability.

Dr. Gopaul was also very understanding with regards to my pain management. Given the opioid crisis and that I work for a company that treats opioid use disorder, I was very hesitant to manage my pain with an opioid. I felt that Dr. Gopaul took the time at each weekly visit to navigate between my hesitation with taking an opioid and the need to manage my cancer pain that is unanticipated. Moreover, that the current pain guidelines are written for non-cancer pain. The timing and severity of my pain changed each week and we continue to have an open dialogue and possibility of changing to a long-acting. However, my preference is to continue with the short-acting PRN and Dr. Gopaul continues to support my decision and has made sure that he will be available if there is a need to change the prescription.

To conclude, I am very satisfied with the treatment that I am receiving by Dr. Gopaul and his staff. He is very professional and shakes my hand at the beginning and ending of each appointment. I feel very fortunate to be under his care and give him my full recommendation.

We found Dr Gopaul to be condescending and dismissive. When we questioned the pros/cons of a particular therapy, he wouldn’t address it. When questioned how he knew the clinical outcome that he was claiming (in the absence of any data via mri/ultrasound/ct/pet) his curt response was “That’s my experience” He clearly didn’t appreciate being questioned and we got the distinct impression he would much prefer patients who simply accept his treatment plan without question. During one visit he turned and walked out, ending the appointment while my parents we’re prepared to ask a question about treatment. I can accept a Dr with poor bedside manner....I would much prefer a quality skill set if I had to choose, but Dr Gopaul seems to possess neither. What he DOES posses is an ego and there is no room for that in patient-centered care! A patient deserves to feel as if her medical team is actually ON her team. Dr Gopaul fails at this in a serious way.

Lacking in compassion, a Dr with a god complex. Of the 3 Dr team he was our least favourite. I felt talked down to, he had a condescending tone and didn’t feel like a partner in my care. He seemed to enjoy subtly communicating a power imbalance.

Doctor Gopaul is a wonderful doctor. He is caring and compassionate as well as very knowledgeable.
When my fully cognitive 92-year-old mother was faced with a very large tumour, he provided our family with a good understanding of what was to come with her difficult radiation treatments and how it would affect my mom's quality of life. As the treatments proceeded normally, Doctor Gopaul and his staff spent a professional amount of time answering all our questions both at appointments and over the phone. When the treatment did not go well, Doctor Gopaul spent well over an hour at one meeting alone exploring options and solutions with us. The next day he spent another hour making sure that the radiation treatment would proceed according to the new plan. He explained every step directly with my mom.
My mom is now finished her radiation treatments. It has been a very long and difficult journey for her but she would be the first to tell you that Doctor Gopaul made all the difference in her ability to face her cancer challenge. Thank you, Doctor Gopaul and staff!

When I was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer he seemed rushed and upon our second visit for the radiation treatment I had the impression that he couldn't wait to get out of the exam room. I had my mouth open to ask another question and he just left the room as if he couldn't get out of there fast enough. It gave me the impression that I didn't count as he couldn't fix me and there would be no thanks for a job well done. I didn't find him as a very caring person when I am facing a very difficult journey.

Best Doctor in KW area, Dr. Gopaul helped me through my breast cancer treatments at KW hospital, he is caring, compassionate, understanding, very knowledgeable, and is the best I've seen at his job. He goes over and above for his patients. It was a pleasure under these circumstances to have Dr. Gopaul as my doctor. He explained everything to me and made sure I understood, and helped my family understand what I was going through and what I was about to go through...I cannot say enough about Dr. Gopaul other than THANK YOU DR. GOPAUL from the bottom of my heart. Your staff is wonderful and always there to help!! God bless you and your family and your amazing mind that helps people who need you!!

Every visit we have with Dr. Gopaul are always pleasant. Even though our prognosis isn't good and we are aware there is no cure he always has time for us. Our conversations aren't always about our health but stuff in general. He is very personable. I highly recommend him to anyone that needs to see a radiologist.

I had numerous visits with Dr. D. Gopaul, each visit I came away with the feeling that he had more than enough time to spend with me. His explanations and recommendations were direct, and I clearly understood my condition and my options. His caring attitude and thoughtful words made me feel extremely comforatable. My cancer has now been termed “undetectable” and he was a huge reason for this outcome. I found him to be very professional, truthful, compassionate and exceptionally knowledgeble when answering my many questions. The satisfaction I received from Dr. D. Gopaul and his staff throughout my treatments was appreciated and I hope they received as much satisfaction in helping me through a difficult time. Each visit always began and ended with a handshake and I would highly recommend Dr. D. Gopaul!
