Biography
Dr. DeMatos is part of the AdventHealth Surgery Specialist's team. He has been caring for people across Western North Carolina since 2001. He is board-certified in General Surgery and has extensive training in a variety of general surgery techniques and care. Dr. DeMatos earned his bachelor's degree in biology and his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed his residency in General Surgery at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. DeMatos is married and has three sons. He and his family like to travel and enjoy spending time in the outdoors. He also enjoys cheering on his sons, who play a variety of sports.

Dr. Dematos is a danger to patients because he cannot listen and makes assumptions without regard for fact. He was condescending in the consult, repeatedly cut me off mid-sentence, did not listen to specifics of the case and did not exhibit the intellectual capacity to consider or retain complex facts without defaulting to narrow biases. He repeatedly spoke rudely without cause and did not take time to follow even basic care protocols in patient interactions. Patients, particularly women, should be forewarned of a potentially abusive encounter if they unfortunately interact with Dr. Dematos. All patients deserve to be treated with more decency and respect than I received from Dr. Dematos.
