Great doctor . He repaired my rotator cuff, and did a great job. Answered all questions and is very involved with the rehab stage as well. No regrets on my choice for surgery.

From the first consultation, through the surgery and now in recovery, this has been such a positive, encouraging experience! I can’t thank Dr. Jesse & his team enough for offering such a high level of care! I would do it exactly the same all over again.

I am the cautionary tale. Saw Dr. Shantz while waiting to see public surgeon for knee injury. He suggested exercises to try to avoid surgery. Didn’t work. He tried PRP injection. Made it worse. Had him do surgery. Faithfully did rehab and physio. Still had pain. He tried Cengal injection. No help. MRI now shows my knee is worse, and meniscus tear can’t be fixed. Surgery doesn’t always work. Now on pain management waiting to see knee replacement doctor.

I had a meniscus tear at the root on my right knee. I was put on a list with my doctor of more than 6 months for a consult, so I looked into getting a private surgery which lead me to Dr. Slade-Shantz in Calgary. I received a thorough evaluation and review of my x-rays and my privately paid for MRI. Since I had injured my self in Dec 2020 I was a good candidate for surgery with little to no arthritis. I proceeded with the surgery in late Sept 2020 and onward to Physio and recovery there after. It was hard at first to stay off the leg for 6 straight weeks but with keeping in mind the end goal it was to have good mobility and stability for walking, hiking, biking and golf it would be worth it. It is now late January 2021 and still an ongoing process but I have been able to go on 45 minute walks with no pain and way better stability. With the excellent follow up by Dr. Slade-Shantz and his staff I can see improvement weekly . I have also been going to Physio and Massage therapy to gain flexibility and strength which is important since the pandemic has restricted access to fitness facilities. I want to thank Dr. Jesse Slade-Shantz for the prompt successful surgery, multiple followup meetings and assessments to date. I look forward to continued improvements from Dr. Jesse and his team.

I had shoulder surgery in May 2019 in Vancouver. We were able to schedule both the pre-op referral and the surgery very quickly once I decided to go with private treatment. The procedure went very smoothly and follow up was excellent. I worked with a physiotherapist in Victoria until November and then continued to exercise on my own after that. The shoulder is probably 95% and I am very happy with the outcome. Would definitely make the same decision based on my experience.
