Today I had my ACL and meniscus repaired by Dr. Slade Shantz. Dr. Slade Shantz approach is a perfect blend of compassion, science, skills, and art. On behalf of myself and my family, I would like to thank the entire team including surgery coordinators, nurses, the anesthesiologist, and of course Dr. Slade Shantz for the exceptional care. Sincerely Marjan N.

I am doing this review well after my rotator cuff and bicep tenodesis surgery, which happened late July 2017 just before Dr. Shantz left the Ajax Shoulder Clinic for a new opportunity in Alberta. I had the surgery at 60 years old and am now 68. I saw Dr. Shantz within 3 months of a (third) slip-and-fall accident. He was very prompt and very open to conversation about the options, surgical outcomes, and other related questions I had. While we didn't know about the bicep issue until the surgery for the rotator cuff repair, I am very happy to report that after 8 years I continue to feel great! The shoulder strength is not like it originally was but I knew this. I was very diligent about following the recovery regimen, which I continue to keep up today. A huge thanks to Dr. Shantz for his fantastic surgical skills and wonderful demeanor!!

When Alberta Health failed me (cancelling my surgery 5 times) I reached out to this clinic. Dr Jesse was able to get me in for my hardware removal quickly as I was having severe pain and AHC didn't care. My stay at the private clinic, the procedure and the follow up were very smooth. I am now going to his new clinic in the NE to see Brandon the exercise therapist. Brandon has helped me so much to get my mobility back. I would recommend this clinic 100%. All the staff are so friendly and go above and beyond. Thanks to everyone there I can walk again!

Had massive superior rotator cuff tear. Saw 3 different surgeons in BC who all told me that it couldn't be repaired and would have more than a 80% failure rate. The only option was shoulder replacement. Thought I should check with private and consulted with Dr. Shantz who had a different perspective. Went ahead with surgery at Acumen Calgary 2 years later. So amazed by the care and talent of Dr. Shantz and the whole Acumen team.

Had shoulder surgery in Calgary. Communication and follow up with excellent. Felt very supported in recovery and was involved along the process.

I had a plazma injection in september for my meniscus tear, and now I have no more pain there, I has done wonders for my life. highly recommend this instead of going the surgery way. It took about a month to see results...

Though it is uncommon for me to write this type of review I feel compelled to share my experience. I met Dr SS through easily booking with his office and was booked for surgery a month later. I was on a wait list at that point in the public system that would be about 16-18 more months. The shoulder surgery was more extensive than hoped and the recovery difficult, but with a lot of encouragement and support from Dr Shantz I am on track for a full and complete recovery and return to the gym and sport. Saving what could be almost two years of activity time made this choice an easy one.

I paid for a private MRI and paid for Dr Shantz to read and interpret the MRI. Very happy I did. Helped me understand and seek the right treatment. Thank you.

I tore my right ACL skiing at Norquay in early 2021. I searched for top rated orthopedic surgeons in Calgary and found Dr. Shantz. He re-constructed my ACL using a donor ligament. The surgery went well, and with the support of his nurses and rehabilitation staff, I was back on skis by February 2022. Excellent communication, both pre and post surgery. Always on time and patient with my questions. Just a great experience. Would definitely recommend using the rehab facilities, as it sped up my recovery. Top marks!!

It almost seems redundant to leave another 5 star review for Dr Shantz, but why not since it is all true. He did private shoulder surgery on me 10 months ago (three very torn rotator cuff muscles). I am from Vancouver but it was done in Calgary due to the bizarre rules in Canada re private surgery. The results are great. The damage was all caused by tennis and I did have to take a long time off, but I am now back playing as good as ever. Life is short and if you can afford it, this is the way to go.
