I have been her patient for a short time and was referred to her by my gynecologist for a laparoscopic procedure which she successfully completed. My gynae wanted to do an open surgery and on my asking had referred me to Dr. Alarie and since then it has been a smooth treatment, Dr. Alarie has a very positive outlook, is knowledgeable, has patience and explains the process in detail and answers all the questions. She even met me just prior to my surgery and put me at ease and so did the anesthetist, it was a good team.
Have had a good experience with her till now.

Dr Alarie is literally the reason why I was able to carry my micro preemie to 24 weeks, and she wasn’t even my OB at the time. While I was inpatient at Grand River, she advocated to get me to McMaster, sorted out documented due date that was incorrect in my paperwork so I was able to get to McMaster safely via ambulance at 23 weeks. After I arrived there, was able to get a blood transfusion, antibiotics, steroid shots, magnesium drip, etc etc and managed to keep my daughter in until the 24th week. My daughter today has a tracheostomy and gtube but otherwise pretty healthy and thriving. She definitely would not have survived (and my life could have been in jeopardy) had we had to follow my regular doctor’s plan for my husband to drive me himself to Mac with an actively, chronically abrupting placenta. I can say that with 💯 confidence given that my placenta ended up fully abrupting.

Dr. Alarie also completed my total hysterectomy after having had adenocarcinoma in situ removed previously. She made me feel heard and comfortable through the whole process. She’s a gem.

I’ve been hesitant to write a review for about a year now. This was my experience and I do hope others have a different one because no one deserves to be treated the way I did. I was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma cancer. We found out 3 weeks after my miracle baby was born.

I came to Dr. Alarie for help during third trimester. I couldn’t breathe, i was in so much pain. I wanted a note to work from home for 2 days. She said what I was experiencing was “normal” and refused to write me a note to work from home. She said it would be fraud. Fraud! I will never be able to wrap my head around that.

As I sat there in her office so vulnerable, and defeated, not knowing what to do next, she just stared at me. Judging me. She responded saying I see you’re upset with me so I think maybe we should refer you to another obstetrician. I was 32 weeks pregnant. I couldn’t handle anymore stress so I said I wanted to stay. Big mistake.

I saw the interns more than I did her. When she came into the room for the last 2 minutes of our appointment, I felt as though she didn’t have time for me. The intern knew my iron was low and wanted me to retest in 2 weeks. Dr. Alaire said it wasn’t necessary.
We could have caught my cancer sooner if she didn’t treat me as a liar and another number on her billing sheet.

At my 6 month post partum follow up appointment, she said I read your medical files from the hospital (since I was admitted and had to start chemotherapy asap) and she said “oops sorry”.

I’ve lost four babies, and too many failed IVF treatments. I was scared and so nervous something would go wrong in this pregnancy and I guess I was hoping for more bedside manners from Dr. A. Alaire.
Once again, this is just my experience. I truly do hope others have had a better experience because unfortunately, for me, I will always remember this and it’s devastating. my advice, advocate for yourself. Keep pushing if you know something isn’t sitting well with you. Don’t let her treat you like another number. What I was experiencing was not “normal”.
Not every patient is the same and we deserve to be treated as individuals.

It takes a skilled doctor to listen to their patients needs.

I haven't had a great history with doctors, I'm used to being dismissed. I was referred to Dr. Alarie and I'm so glad I had been. She and her team have been amazing. They're supportive, welcoming, thorough, and transparent.

Dr. Alarie is, without question, the most knowledgeable, skilled and compassionate physician I have ever met. Not only was she a stellar OB for the growth and delivery of my daughter, but her GYN work and strong patient advocacy during my recent hysterectomy were also second to none. I am happy to say that I am recovering very well and that there is no other physician I could ever trust more! I would highly recommend her to anyone!
