Absolutely one of the best people that you could have as a doctor. He listens, he cares, he helps you. When my femur broke, he was the only one who was able to figure it out. I went to emergency 4 times, and they sent me home with a shoulder shrug. One Doogie Houser type doorknob asked me if I was just there to get drugs. No doubt they all billed the healthcare system for not helping me. All wannabe doctors should study under men and women with James Powell's credentials. He will always have my undying respect.

So long story short I've had three prior hip surgeries (before age 10) and after 10 long years of agonizing pain, hardware which was expired and trial and error with multiple doctors, I was referred to Dr James Powell. Not only did he treat me with the upmost respect, he went out of his way to make sure I had this hip problem dealt with as soon as possible. Meeting him to the surgery date only way a 6 month wait! He was extremely knowledgable and had the best bedside manner. His team was also so professional and his colleague colleen was on the clock ready for any questions I may have had regarding my healing. Defianlty a 10/10 experience and I always recommend him to others

Dr James Powell gave me my "life" back. After 18 months on pain in my right knee, which hinder my ability to walk, Dr Powell did a knee replacement. Within hours of surgery, the staff at the Foothills had me up and walking. Dr Powell examined me each day I was in the hospital. Twice Dr Powell examined me at the Hand Clinic in the Foothills between other surgeries. He cares about his patients. Two weeks post surgery I could walk without walking aides. It is three months since my surgery, I am pain free and back to my normal lifestyle. Thank you Dr Powell!

I am impressed with add Powell’s professionalism. His bedside manner is great. With all the people he sees he remembered exactly what we talked about as I was wheeled to surgery. Excellent staff and care.

My experrience with Dr. Powell was not very good. Although he was pleasant to speak with, he was almost an hour late for his appointment in the fracture clinic. His interaction was brief prior to surgery as he rleiec mainly on his understudies to explain things. I have heard from a few people that he isn't the most talented surgeon, but he does seem to care about his patients.

I had a total hip replacement on September 26, 2017 and this surgeon is amazing !! I was up shortly after surgery and the only pain I have ever had was due to the incision .... I was walking 6 days post op without any aides and didn't use the raised toilet seat or the bath helper , just did once ..... his staff is excellent as well and Colleen his nurse is also wonderful !! I could not have had a better surgeon !!!

I love Dr. Powell. He did my right hip replacement in 2004. I never looked back. I'm looking for a left replacement now and wouldn't consider anyone else. I wish he could do my shoulder.

I cant thank this man and his team enough. They have tottaly changed my life. Everything from the referal, to the apts, surgery, aftercare... everything, perfect. I am 38 years old, and have been given a second chance at a pain free life. I received a full hip replacement. 5 stars, A+.

Having Dr. Powell as my surgeon following my motor vehicle accident was simply a blessing. My case was exceptionally complex with a shattered pelvis that required 3 operations to piece it back together again. And once it had healed, a total hip replacement since the cartilage was destroyed in the accident. I am now walking and operating pretty much as if nothing had ever happened...... Thank You Thank You Thank You Dr. Powell and staff!!!!!
