There is no possible way the reviews on here are true. I imagine he writes them himself or family/staff write them. Also, the fact that he has 77! Compared to other colleagues have around 20 should be a red flag.
He has no insight into when/what he is doing wrong. Has an astronomical revision rate compared to colleagues. Please do not go to this surgeon for anything.

I am 5 days post-op, full hip replacement and already feel like a new person. Everyone on the team and at the hospital were fabulous especially considering how short staffed they were which put unrealistic pressure on the staff that was there. Thank you all for what you do.🥰

I love Dr. Powell. I first met him in 2004 when I was trying to get Birmingham Ball instead of a normal hip replacement. I ended up with a full right hip replacement as my socket was too shallow for the other procedure he said. In 2018 he gave me a left hip and the day the world shut down, March 13, 2020 he did a right knee and patella for me in the morning. I consider meeting Dr. Powell to be the greatest luckiest thing that has ever happened to me. From Stephanie to Colleen to Maria, all of his staff have always been awesome. I could never say enough good about him and I hope his life is truly blessed with all great things cause he's just awesome.

Dr. Powell successfully repaired my broken, shattered Tibia and leg. He was completely committed to restoring my mobility, and persisted with surgery and treatment until my leg was fully healed. Dr. Powell is a dedicated, professional, expert. He is committed to the wellbeing and best possible outcome for his patients. My experience with Dr. Powell was a journey back to full mobility. He corrected my limp, and all deformities caused by my fracture. Most importantly he rejoined my bones. I am forever grateful to Dr. Powell and his dedicated team of medical experts. These people truly perform miracles. I believe Dr. Powell was sent by God to help me. He absolutely is one of the best men I have ever had the privilege to meet, truly I mean this. I will forever be grateful that he was my surgeon. I thank God for it. If you have the luxury and fortune of Dr. Powell being your surgeon, you’ve been blessed with what is undoubtedly one of the most gifted and brilliant orthopaedic surgeons in North America. Be assured, he will do everything medically possible and within his ability to help you. He did for me.

Dec. 20th my husband injured his ankle/foot went to Dr. Powell to diagnose his injury. (We initially went to a hospital emergency where they did an X-ray and gave hime crutches). He had an X-Ray and CT. and was told he had a fractured talus. Dr. Powell told him to wear an air cast for 6 weeks. When we went for follow up my husbands foot was still painful. Dr. told him it was fine, no follow up, exercises or physio was recommend. The pain continued. My husband contacted our GP a couple times and was told to see Dr. Powel again which he did, had another CT scan and was told the bones had healed but the pain continued.
We then sought out physio. This pain took a very healthy 64/65 year old man from being very active; snowboarding, walking, golfing, sailing to someone who could only go for a walk and sometimes cycle, one day then would have to rest for the next 2 days because of the pain.
We went back to Dr. Powell again and had another CT scan, this time we were told the bone didn't actually heal and recommended we see a foot specialist.
We met with Dr. Dodds a few weeks later.
His diagnosis is to remove the bone that never did re-attach like Dr. Powell had told us. I asked Dr. Dodds if he had seen my husband in Dec. 2021, what would he would have suggested and he said he would’ve removed it then.
So after 13 months we finally have the proper diagnosis. It’s been 13 months of pain, reduced activity and exercise, not to mention the stress.
No, we would not recommend Dr. Powell.

His presence is calming and sincere. He carefully explained my X-ray and how the broken bones were causing the pain. I am grateful he was my doctor when I was taken to ER.
