I don't know why people complain. And the office staff has always been very nice to me. And dr. Ratino has always taken time to listen to me and explain things so why some of the bad reviews I don't know. Now for myself I have seen some real jerks in the lobby maybe that's why they're treated the way. I would highly recommend him

I have been a patient of dr. Thomas for 12 years and he has taken good care of me for most of those years until Privia Medical Group took over. He simply punches s time clock now. He doesn't hire the office staff..the medical group does. Dr. Thomas has done 3 operations on me , hundreds of trigger point injections and probably 21 epidural steroid injections and had me on every medication possible...nothing has worked except Fentanyl. I've been on fentanyl for 7 years..as of Feb 6 had been on a higher dose because of tolerance over the years. Feb. 6th, after the new "legislation", he has become a totally different Dr. He dropped my Fentanyl by 3/4 and the duration from every 48 hours to 72 hours...COLD TURKEY. This has caused GREAT harm, excruciating PAIN, severe withdrawal and within 2 weeks he wants me off of it completely with nothing for the pain, only a low dose muscle relaxer. The office said if anyone doesn't like the new rules then feel free to "Find another Dr". I went for a second opinion...they laughed and said they wouldn't touch me with a 10 foot poke because I've already been on every med and fentanyl is the Only thing that works. I am 100% bedridden now with 0 quality of life and no hope of getting out of this bed..thanks to Thomas Ratino making the choice to ignore the Hippocratic oath that he took. He will now be losing patients in need that he USED to care for....but losing them NOT in a good way.

Horrible doctor and staff is even worse! I habe been a patient of his for almost 3 years now. I am in the process of finding a new pain management doctor. The only thing he cares about is getting his patient hooked on narcotics so they habe no choice but to visit each month....job security and money in his pocket. The big fat urine test nurse that stinks, breathes and snorts like an old worn out pig is extremely extremely rude, disrespectful, no respect what so ever for others and is very hateful! She really needs to be fired and needs to find a different profession that better suites people like her because anything customer related is not for her. Overall experience with this doctor and his facility, I would NOT recommend anyone.

I agree staff is hideous. It's a monthly fight to get anything done. Dr. Ratino is ok, but he has no intrest in making his office any better. Complaints fall on deaf ears.

Staff is terrible - am going to ask my PCP to give me my pain meds - if he is interested in making his business good then you need to find other staff to help you.....they are hideaous and I wonder if there are other things going on with them, ?? Can't recommend this office only because of the staff...doc is fine.

Wow, ditto to all the negative comments related to the entire staff at the offices of Dr. Paul Grant, Thomas and Tim Ratino. I have been a patient of two of these doctors for almost ten (10) years now and on every office visit I can expect the same normal most unpleasant reception once I open the outer doors to their offices. I know most of the patients are there for one or several pain related issues, but once inside the outer waiting room the atmosphere changes. You walk up to the sign in desk and it starts; No welcome, No hello my name is, your copay is, sign here, fill these forms out with no explanation as to do with them once you completed it. Next comes a person who calls your name to come in and have your vitals taken. Once again No hello, No name and you have to ask what you PB and Pulse is, then its wait outside for your name to be called. After you’re called and placed in an examination room the same expectation; No hello, No my name is and what are you here for. Several times the MA who fills out my refill dates has the wrong dates. On one occasion the MA had written my second refill date for a month of twelve (12) months in the past. My recommendations are:
1. Replace all the bad or incompetent staffers.
2. Behavioral training,
3. Rudimentary math skill training.
4. Team building exercises.

Sadly it seems his office staff has affected so many people in a negative way, though the staff is still there.
The doctors know of this issue but yet do nothing about it
Many of the office staff or medical assistance are right out of trading school and are doing an internship in order to graduate from their programs to receive a diploma
I have heard personally from one person at this office "as long as I get my clinical hours done for the month who cares about these patients" excuse my bad grammar
Yes there are a few whom actually care about their jobs and do them correctly as well care about the patients that come threw their office
I had a really bad surgery with Ratino Jr. blamed me for his misjudgments in the operating room
Now my back is worse off then it was before I had the spinal stimulator put in permanently then turned around with in six months to have him take it out which has now caused more damage that no doctor is wanting to fix or do something completely different such as shave some of my spine down ( not happening I am only 25 after all)
What has me curious is the trail I did for the five days with my regular pain management doctor worked so well I didn't take ANY pain Meds but with the permanent one he installed I was in constant pain

Dr Ratino seems ,but his office staff is absolutely horrible in EVERY way! Also, Dr Ratino seems to be too busy and I have been unable to get any imaging scheduled that was ordered by Dr Ratino 4 weeks ago. I have been in severe pain and have had to make an appointment with a new physician. His office staff could care less about their patients and following through with communication. I hope they never experince pain like We have!!!

Echoing previous comments- Dr. Ratino rocks, but his front desk and phone staff are heinous. They were actually making medical decisions on behalf of the doctor and me. That is what I call it when they were unwilling to reschedule my appointment "based on my previous appointment date", THEEE MONTHS EARLIER, specifying that "I didn't need to try to get my MEDS early". COMPLETELY OFFENSIVE and offended by the statement and implication. She stated that he had no other open appointments available until two weeks out, which was 100% a lie. I called back the next day, got a different person, and got an appointment for the following day. and it was NOT due to a cancellation. I needed to reschedule because I no longer drive, we are two hours away from his office, and my self-employeed husband would have lost several hundred $$$ if he had to cancel a customer appointment that conflicted with my original appointment date. To imply that I was simply trying to get my medications refilled earlier absolutely incenses me. I would fire every one of those twits. Oh, and they refused to let me speak with Dr. Ratino. Said I could only leave a message, which I am sure they would have deleted after listening to me rant to him about them. He almost lost a good patient because of his incompetent front desk staff. I truly hope he reads these reviews and takes action. I am not alone in my assessment.

The doctor rocks, but his front desk staff six and are 100% incompetent. If it were my office, I would fire every one of them and hire a new, competent lineup.
